Album Description The story of Russell Watson is inspirational: a factory worker born in Salford, North West England, Russell went from performing on the pub and club circuit in his spare time to singing for the Pope, prime ministers and presidents and selling over 5 million albums worldwide. Watson, otherwise known as "The Voice," is back with all his most popular hits on one CD. The Ultimate Collection features "Nessun Dorma," "Funiculi, Funicula" "Miserere," and "Nella Fantasia." The new collection also contains two new bonus tracks, Elvis's #1 hit "Can't Help Falling In Love" and Whitney Houston's powerful song "I Have Nothing."
Album Description Born in 1974, British tenor Russell Watson became an opera singer by freak occurrence. While he was regularly singing in bars and clubs in the Manchester and London suburbs, an owner of one such venue told Watson that he thought his voice was better suited for opera and requested that he learn Puccini's 'Nessum Dorma', which he did and promptly added to his set. Watson eventually signed with Decca Records, issuing his debut, entitled The Voice, in April of 2001. Nicknamed 'the People's Tenor', Watson seems poised to convert more than a few opera naysayers as he covers such contemporary compositions as Freddie Mercury's 'Barcelona', in addition to the standards. Includes the 2 bonus tracks 'I Have Nothing' & 'Can't Help Falling In Love'. 2006.
Album Details 2006 Anthology of Songs by the Man Dubbed "the People's Tenor" Released in Tandem with a Concert Tour. Watson Has Purposefully Assembled Albums to Take Opera and Classical Music to a New Audience; "to Give Classical Music Back to the People, Or Rather, to Give it to People for the First Time," He Explains. "whether I'm Singing in Front of Five Or 100,000 People, I Just Love to Entertain. Everywhere I Go, People Ask Me to Belt them a Note Because There is Nothing Like Hearing the Power of a Big Voice Hitting the Top Note - it Makes the Hairs on the Back of Your Neck Stand Up." Special Tracks on this Set Include his Reprisal of "Barcelona" with Shaun Ryder of Happy Mondays, First Recorded by Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe, plus Daring Renditions of "i have Nothing" from "The Bodyguard" and "Can't Help Falling in Love".

Tom Watson is the voice! May 27, 2008 Glenda L. Chamberlain (Shreveport, LA USA) Tom Watson has the most beautiful tenor voice I have ever heard. I am a professional musician, playing pipe organ and piano. I accompany singers all the time, but I have never heard one of Tom's ability. Please let me know when he records another "CD"! I would buy it in a heartbeat!
My Favorite Singer May 14, 2008 Carolyn (Southern California) This is a wonderful album by my favorite singer. He can sing any style, but I enjoy his classical style the best. I'm glad he has recovered from his surgery and is back performing again. I hope he'll come to California some day for a concert.
Russell Watson-The Ultimate Collection April 6, 2008 Coalie Taylor (Stamford, CT) I bought this CD for everyone that I needed a unique gift for at holiday time. What an amazing repertoire of songs and WHAT A VOICE! Russell Watson seems like this everyday, random guy...but,when he sings--the world stands still. Most noted are his choice of accompaniments from "Volare", complimented with a full orchestra, to "Barcelona", a fun vocal with rap star Shaun Ryder. Excellent choice.
great album February 13, 2008 D. Baines (Arizona, USA) Prior to purchase, I previewed the samples and was convinced that the songs in this collection are truly endearing. I enjoy listening to it especially while I'm driving as it provides a soothing and peaceful feeling while trying to patiently maneuver through heavy traffic. At home, it provides me an equally wholesome experience. Russel Watson's voice and rendition of the songs make his style uniquely pleasant.
recent convert January 28, 2008 Mickey's Fan (Clarksville, MD) I used to hate anything even close to opera. Russell Watson has completely changed my attitude toward this form of music. "Nella Fantasia" is magical. No one has sung "You Raise Me Up" better. He even sings "Volare" with better Italian pronunciation than Dean Martin. The album is pure joy.
