Album Description Grinding metal powerhouse Misery Index has returned with their explosive new full-length album Traitors. Two-years in the making, Traitors shows the band evolving into the full-formed killing machine that their earlier material only hinted at. Guitars grind, drums detonate and the band's furious vocal onslaught rail against a world aflame. More a declaration of war than a collection of mere songs, Partisans of Grief, Occupation, Black Sites and the title track burn w/ a desperate roar. With Traitors MISERY INDEX has unleashed the soundtrack to a world gone mad and provided the world with one of finest platters of extreme metal this year.
Album Description Traitors is the 2008 album from Misery Index, a Deathgrind band formed in 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA by Jason Netherton (bass, vocals), Mike Harrison (guitar, vocals) and Kevin Talley (drums). As of 2006, its line-up consists of Jason Netherton (bass, vocals), Sparky Voyles (guitar), Mark Kloeppel (guitar, vocals) and Adam Jarvis (drums). Misery Index's music is best described as Death Metal with strong Hardcore Punk and Grindcore influences. Their vein of music is often said to resemble their fellow Maryland brutal death metal outfit Dying Fetus, as Netherton, Voyles, ex-guitarist Greig and ex-drummer Talley are all former members of that band.

Extreme album of the year! November 27, 2008 J. Wipperman Whoa! What an intense album! I never really listened to Misery Index, but when I heared about Traitors I had to check it out and Taitors blew me away, and now I really dig Misery Index! Traitors really remindes me of the old school grind bands such as Naplam Death, Brutal Truth and Terrorizer and the new extreme bands like The Red Chord and The Black Dhalia Murder. Everything about the album is awsome, even the cover booklet. Like how before every song lyric there is a quote from someone such as Albert Einstein, Mark Twain, a Cree Indian Prophecy and one from Friedrich Nietzsche whos same quote was in Death's The Sound of Perserverance. Plus the artwork is really tight and the use of black and white photos fits well. Now about the music, this one of the heaviest and most extreme albums released in the last couple of years. Sure they use the F**k the system and its the corporations man! for the theme of the lyrics, buts its awsome. Like how they attack Hollywood by saying how the people are pathetic and are a joke to society, I think thats sweet. If you like extreme metal you need to buy this album. I guarantee you, Traitors is going to be a classic!
Amazing! November 25, 2008 jwapd (Atlantic City, NJ) Absolutely a great cd. This cd is a small step in a different direction, but most will find this cd just as addicting as the rest of their library. Tomas Lindberg does guest vocals on "Ruling Class Cancelled." Enough said!

What can I say about Misery Index that hasn't already been said? These Nor'easterners certainly have built a reputation for themselves with the endless touring schedules and blistering ear shattering awesomeness that's emanating from my speakers as we speak. I'll say this though, Misery Index have not taken a step back but are pushing themselves forward. This outing while differing from past works has a different feel to it, a type of urgency in the song craft along with the piss and vinegar you would expect. It's the perfect time for a release like this with the November elections just around the corner. If you haven't yet, pick this record up and play it aloud at your nearest protest rally!
