worth every penny and more November 5, 2008 antibambi these guys definetly know how to make music! in my opinion, this is the best debut of any rock group ive ever heard of. black tides sig. sound is a mixture of, most noticiceably metallica's brutality, throws in crazy riffs and solos like you'd expect from megadeth, and keeps a clean melodic sound like guns n roses. every song on the album is excellent, and one listen will get the riffs and insane drumwork stuck in your head. shockwave, warriors of time, give me a chance, let me, hit the lights(a tribute to the metallica cover), and light from above make the better half of the album. but everything is good. this here should be the future of metal. too bad i could only give them 5 stars. and these guys will find themselves on the charts in the future if they keep it up. give it a try
Rip Tide October 28, 2008 T. G Porter (Tucson, Az United States) I'm basically a classic rock kind of guy, but this cd is killer! I can't believe how good these guys are. Young guys! I first saw "Shockwave" on MTV or VH-1 and was immediately impressed by the guitar harmonies, but then there's great vocals too! Very melodic and fast rocking stuff.Every song rocks. I'm really impressed!! "Light from Above" is quickly becoming my favorite new music. These guys are way ahead of thier time and very seasoned for thier ages.
The future of Heavy Metal. October 3, 2008 Casey W. Newman Black Tide are really starting to make a name for themselves in Heavy Metal. A combination of Metallica meets Motley Crue, Black Tide might not be selling any of the Multiplatinum albums yet, because radio format hasn't changed yet. I believe Black Tide will be huge very soon, they just have to write that killer song, their version of Metallica's "Enter Sandman", or their version of Motley Crue's " Dr. Feelgood".I'm waiting to see what will be their next move.
I tried...I really did August 6, 2008 devilspider13 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this album the day it hit stores, because I thought that shockwave was an interesting song and wanted to see what these kids had. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I expected. Granted, they're young and have a ton of time to mature musically, but I just didn't feel as drawn the the album as I thought I'd be. I will listen to anything from Alternative to country, to death metal, to power metal. However, I just couldn't get into it. I'll still be buying their next one simply because they seem promising, but unfortunately, this one didn't meet my expectations. Lastly, please don't compare them to Metallica, they are nowhere near Metallica, at least yet.
New Blood! July 9, 2008 Wyvern (San Jose, Costa Rica) Black Tide is a a young band with young musicians coming from USA and with a high potential. They play straightforward heavy metal, they don't go for symphonic mumbo-jumbo, sugar-coated keyboards or anything like it. The fact they have a cover of 'Hit The Light' (Metallica) is a hint of what the band wants: to take the path of olden glory of USA 80's metal and bring it to the new century. I expect a lot from them in the future.
