Full circle September 2, 2008 Douglas Terrel (Baghdad, Iraq, US Army) Drowning pool is a great band, but this CD, although a good cd in itself, is not quite the caliber that their previous cd's have been. I can't put my finger on what specifically it is about it that makes it less of a cd than the other ones, but I think it may have something to do with the new lead vocals. I will still buy Drowning Pool CDs in the future, but I hope that they try something else next time...
wicked cool September 1, 2008 Cheri M. Langlois (Elk CA) Great guitar, awesome noise. I love this cd. Anyone who likes hard (I mean Hard) rock will love this
Softer, but acceptable. August 24, 2008 Eric Jousma (Bruce Crossing, MI USA) It's not the same Drowning Pool that made Sinner, but it still has some good songs.
Just sounds...old. August 3, 2008 Seven Kitties (Blue Point, NY USA) This isn't "DROWNING POOL". It's more than the loss of the singer; there's been such a fundamental shift in style and sound that they really ought to change the band name, or people could sue for false advertising. This isn't to say it's a BAD album: it's just not at all like Drowning Pool. This album sounds exactly like early '90s metal, like Faith No More, Pearl Jam, and Corrosion of Conformity. But wait, you say. Those are great bands! Yes, yes they are. However, by sounding so 'early '90s' DP has lost the edginess and rawness that made their sound distinctive. The vocal delivery is uninspired and the tunes themselves are not particularly hooky. They do include a number of repetetive choruses, which made me think that this album is Concert Fodder--these songs probably sound AMAZING in a live performance. As a studio album, it's still good, but the complexity I'd hoped for just didn't get delivered. It already sounds dated to me. Even the choice of cover (and did they steal the idea of a cover from Disturbed?)doesn't suit either their image or their talents. (But, again, it's a great live performance song).
What should of been their follow up to the first record. July 8, 2008 angrysun I got the record today and overall i'm pleasantly surprised by the catchiness of the vocals and the riffs. I would definately recommend this to anyone into Godsmack or Soil. The song structures are of the simplistic variety but like i said very catchy. The only dud would be the Billy Idol cover which i found to be bland and unworthy.
