| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description LTM is proud to announce the first release on CD of the second album by Gina X Performance, an acknowledged new wave/electro classic first released in 1980. Formed in Cologne, Germany, the core of Gina X Performance comprised charismatic Gina Kikoine (vocals and lyrics) and writer-producer-musician Zeus B. Held. Between 1979 and 1984 the group released four albums of cool arthouse electro-disco: Nice Mover, X-Traordinaire, Voyeur and Yinglish. Their classic 1979 single No G.D.M. was a club hit on both sides of the Atlantic and remains a cult classic thanks to electro/synthcore compilations such as Nag Nag Nag. Slinky second single Nice Mover is also an established favourite, having appeared on the Andrew Weatherall compilation Nine O'Clock Drop. As well as stand-out tracks Striptease, Opposite Numbers and the single Do It Yourself, this new extended CD edition also features four bonus tracks from the 1984 album Yinglish. In 2005 Q Magazine's electro-pop special rated No G.D.M. as one of the most influential songs to come out of the Continent a fact made clear by even the most cursory listen to Ladytron, Goldfrapp or Miss Kittin and the Hacker. The CD features twelve digitally remastered tracks and runs for 60 minutes. The booklet preserves the original artwork from the 1980 album release as well as a detailed artist biography.

| Customer Reviews:
great to have these early electro/new wave classics reissued July 11, 2007 Daniel W. Kelly (Long Island, NY United States) Gina X was a blip on the new wave radar, mostly because much of the music is extremely experimental, and the fact that much of it is not in English. Quirky female vocals can easily be compared to Nina Hagen or Lene Lovich and the music has hints of a diversity of new wave acts from early B-52s to Gary Numan. With 80s synth dance producer Zeus B. Held as part of the band line-up, the 4 Gina X Performance CDs are must haves for 80s lovers. Each CD will definitely have a couple of songs that you would like to include in a complete eclectic 80s mix. This particular album from 1980 can definitely be compared to synth production by Giorgio Moroder from this era, when he was moving from the donna summer disco to the more synth-driven new wave sounds he would dabble in with the likes of Sparks before finding a heavy "electric dreams" sound in the mid-80s. What's so odd about these rereleases is the choice of bonus tracks. Why, for instance, does this release contain as bonus tracks TWO songs that are actually from one of the bands other CDs??? Not a major issue, but just a rather odd decision.
