| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com The MTV Unplugged concept was probably invented with someone like Florida singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba (a.k.a. Dashboard Confessional) in mind. Carrabba's relentlessly sad, impossibly frail acoustic songs--which effectively spawned the emo-core genre--have given alienated, cardigan-wearing guys and gals a snappy soundtrack to their pain. Dropping the heavily-inked guitarist amid his flock captures both the intimacy and awkwardness propelling Dashboard Confessional's best songs. Indeed, whether Carrabba is flying solo or is joined by a band, his MTV Unplugged--presented as a CD with an accompanying DVD--ranks as one of the most interactive sets ever; the fans know every single word to every single song and gosh darn if they don't sing their hearts out, sometimes completely hijacking the choruses. From opening number "Swiss Army Romance" through to the modern-rock hit "Screaming Infidelities," the assembled holler themselves hoarse in a glassy-eyed solidarity that would be eerie if it weren't so sweet. The sing-along aspect might be a drawback for fans searching for pristine live versions of studio recordings, but then again, Dashboard Confessional's music is nothing if not communal. --Kim Hughes

Great live album.... April 13, 2008 Matthew D. Zarnstorff (Wisconsin) Chris Carrabba is great on this album. You do want to sing along with the crowd in "Screaming Infidelities". This makes me miss the MTV Unplugged series. Carrabba, his voice and his guitar are enough on this album. Matt Zarnstorff
Brings what a Dashboard concert should be to a CD March 9, 2008 Matthew Golden (Albany, NY United States) First off, in many ways this is my favorite Dashboard CD. But, it should not be the first Dashboard disk you buy. The progression on this disk from solo to backing band is pretty great and kind of mirrors the actual progression of Dashboard. Also, hearing the crowd sing with/instead of Chris is pretty great to me - but is some people's greatest complaint. So be warned. It's like being at a good Dashboard concert where the crowd really becomes one with the band in a lot of ways (which is different than a lame Dashboard show where the crowd just isn't into it). I think it really amplifies the emotions of some of the songs to hear an entire crowd yelling "so we can get some." It also packs a lot of great songs onto one disk. I highly recommend it for any Dashboard fan.
Much heavier than what you'd think May 22, 2007 comedreja (depths of the west) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a masterpiece! If only I had heard this earlier. Luckily Amazon is cool enough to have song samples for all to hear before you buy. This is HEAVY. Sort of like if EYEHATEGOD went acoustic. A must have for all sludge and of course literock fans as well!
Beautiful! January 11, 2007 Sandra L. Crager (Yokosuka, Japan) Chris Carrabba never ceases to amaze me. I've had three copies of this since it was released, and I never get tired of watching/listening to it. If you like this kind of music, you MUST have this CD/DVD combo. Trust me, the DVD is even more fun to watch than listen to. His "heart on his sleeve" demeanor will find it's way into your heart. I am a true Dashboard Confessional lover from way back and will be forever. This album is amazing.
I don't understand... September 12, 2006 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I wanted to hear Dashboard and instead I get a bunch of idiots singing instead? It doesn't seem much, but I wasted [...] on this cd. I should have bought new strings for my guitar. At least then I wouldn't have to listen to these idiots screaming the songs. I hate this and the DVD is even worse because then you have to see all these rich idiot kids playing extra sad for the cameras??? WTF Dashboard? MTV Sucks!
