Album Description Their very first recording, captured live at Molly Malone's in 1997, documents the raw and raucous energy of the band's early days and is a must own for faithful fans. Includes three originals only found on this CD, early live versions of songs that are now fan faves, and the only recorded version of "Delilah" which was a staple of the group's live shows in the early years. Previously only available at shows and through limited distribution, "Alive" features all new artwork and has been re-mastered.

Great but NOT a New Album... October 19, 2008 Will Carpenter (Canandaigua, NY) If you have ever been to a Flogging Molly show you know how much fun they are to see live, this album brings some of that fun home to you. But be warned, there's not a lot of new stuff here, and since more albums have been released since this album came out...none of it is new anymore. But this is a good live album and it is a fun listen. \/\/
great live recording January 27, 2008 Brian Fitzpatrick Flogging Molly have created a very unigue sound. Part Dropkick Murphys, part traditional Irish music, they have carved a niche for themselves. Though their studio albums are excellent, their live shows are one of a kind. Alive Behind The Green Door is a good starter kit for new fans as well as as must have for longtime fans.
Brilliant for what it is April 15, 2007 M. Twomey (Cork,Ireland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's all in the sleeve notes people.... "And there was our answer.. Just set up,plug in,tune up & share what we gave each other-fun! So to hell with the squeaky clean & the oh-so pretty. Here are 10 raw and raucous songs,LIVE and dripping with the 'joie de vivre'. Part of an experience we all had something to do with. This is album is for you,the bawdy and the beautiful that will forever keep us honest" "Pruduced by: Absolutely no one!" THIS is the definitive OLD-SCHOOL Flogging Molly experience.Raw,Rowdy, energetic, soaked in Guinness & Whiskey. But most importantly,it didnt sound great. In 1997,Flogging Moly were just a bar band, who probably had no sound engineer or knowledge of the way a structure of a building, such as a Pub,would affect resonance levels and sound quality on a recording!! The point is,it's not supposed to sound perfect and professional. It's raw,it's honest & It's real. Yes,there are times when the fiddle screeches, the mandolin disappears,or the bass drum tips and taps instead of pounding(see intro of "Between A Man And A Woman"),but for the most part it does sound,in my opinion, quite good for what they were working with at the time. I own both the original 1997 independent release & the 2006 SideOneDummy re-release,and I have to say the remastering and engineering work done on this version really improved the sound quality to the best possible level, and in my opinion, the sound quality on this re-release is far better than the band's own independent release. So go for this one instead of the 1997 26fRPM release(which I think is also on sale here) I would really only recommend this to HARDCORE Flogging Molly fans only, who want to experience the early days of the Band's sound, muddy, muffled and wonderful as it is. But for the newcomer,or someone looking for a definitive Live Album of Today's Flogging Molly, I would Highly recommend "Whiskey On A Sunday" instead of this.
GET THE VIBE January 4, 2007 Joey The Squash (New Jersey, USA) If you're the type of person who enjoys live recordings, you'll love this CD. This is as "live" as it gets. Is the sound quality good? It could be better. Does it matter? Hell, no. These guys (and one girl) kick so much energy into your face - it's like a raw rush of adrenaline set to music. Crank it up and let the maximum vibe blow you through the wall. This is what a great band is supposed to sound like. Also, this CD has a couple of great tunes that are not available on any other FM CD.
If only I had known... December 30, 2006 A. Stokes (MN) 1 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this the other day at a local store the instant I saw it, thinking it was the full length-concert of the live music I'd heard on Flogging Molly's MySpace page. What I know now is that what I really wanted was "Whiskey on a Sunday." Unfortunately, there is no such thing as returning music in stores these days because they already assume I've pirated it and given it to others. If I had known what this is (which is at least made clear here on Amazon - it certainly isn't on the packaging of the CD) I never would have purchased it. The audio quality is absolutely horrible. I mean bad, bad, bad. It seriously sounds like a bootleg recorded in a bar. Which is essentially what this is. This is not a professional recording of a Flogging Molly concert - it's a professionally published bootleg recording that sounds incredibly poor. For the real Flogging Molly live experience, check out "Whiskey on a Sunday." After paying for this dud though, I certainly won't be paying for that one.
