Amazon.com The highlight of this MTV gig is the cover of the Stones' "2,000 Man," which Kiss covered on Dynasty. Though the four original members play together on only two tunes ("2,000 Man" and the first real acoustic guitar version of their hit "Beth"), the two tracks ("Rock and Roll All Nite" and "Nothin' to Lose") on which they're joined by current members--drummer Eric Singer and guitarist Bruce Kulick--are also magical. The rest of the album, featuring only the current lineup, has some great moments when Kiss's songwriting prowess really shines through. Songs like "Comin' Home," "Sure Know Something," "See You Tonight," and "Goin' Blind" sound amazing in the acoustic format. However, things get a little miserable when they pull out two overwrought ballads, "I Still Love You" and "Every Time I Look at You," toward the end of the 15-song CD. --Adem Tepedelen

Alive! is legendary, Unplugged is a masterpiece. February 27, 2008 Adam M. Pope This is among the great KISS albums. Alive! is legendary, but Unplugged is a masterpiece. The album shows the true integrity of KISS and that their songs hold up as classic rock n' roll. The main highlights are "Comin' Home", "I Still Love You", "2,000 Man", "Beth" and "Nothin' To Lose". Bruce Kulick does a great job taking Ace's electric guitar solos and translating them to work accoutically. The set list was so diverse for this show, it really is a great listen all around. I have also found this to be a great jumping off point for introducing people to KISS who might have an aversion to "guys that wear make-up" or people who say "they're great performers, but the music is weak". I gave a copy to my best friend who thinks Springsteen is God and he now he's added the four-who-are-one to his list of rock deities. So if you haven't already, buy this album. Then buy Kisstory Vol. 3 for a few extras and to see the unplugged action come Alive!.
Kiss Accoustic is Awsome October 15, 2007 James S. Horne (Eupora, MS) This is a great album. It has some really good accoustic versions of there classic songs. Coming Home accoustic buries the original. It sounds like it was meant to be recorded this way. Who couldn't like the reunion of the four original members.
Great Classic Album! The Kiss Reunion! June 5, 2007 Space Ace (Macungie PA) Finally a great setlist! Even without the reunion, this would have been great. But, with Ace and Peter it's awesome and over the top. "2000 Man" is awesome! And finally "Beth" gets done the right way and is the best version of the song aside from the studio version. But I was so excited to have them do "See You Tonite" from Gene's solo record, and "A World Without Heroes" from The Elder. This is the kind of mixing up of the setlist they should have always been doing. Thank Heavens they're mixing it up recently on the Rock the Nation tour which I can't say enough about. After this album it was a very exciting summer of 1996 to scramble for tickets to a reunion show.

This cd was surprisingly good! Decent song selection and sounds like it was a good show. And this was right before they bombarded the market with BS product. I personally enjoy this cd and think most people would. Especially if your a die-hard KISS fan in need of a new twist on some old songs.. The whole thing has a good-strong vibe to it.
Great 'live' reunion captured July 5, 2006 R. Gorham 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
THE BAND: Paul Stanley (guitars), Gene Simmons (bass), Ace Frehley (guitars), Bruce Kulick (guitars), Peter Criss (drums), Eric Singer (drums). THE DISC: (1996) 15 tracks clocking in at just under 57 minutes. Included with the disc is a 4-page foldout containing band pictures, song titles/credits, and thank you's. There is a rare Japanese version of this recording with added tracks and multiple takes of the same songs. An "MTV-Unplugged" production (location is not mentioned on the disc or liner notes). Label - Mercury. COMMENTS: Awesome recording by a band clearly with their best days behind them. Being a long time Kiss fan from the 70's, it was a real treat to see Ace and Peter up on stage with Paul and Gene... and from my perspective, looking like everyone was getting along and having some fun. Not to mention a great track list, crisp sound, an enthusiastic audience, and a band that can still perform live. Paul and Gene's voices still sound great after all these years. The guitars (electric and acoustic) sound like they're being played right in front of you - you can feel the fingers on the strings and the strumming guitar picks bending. Highlights for me included the Kiss staples (R&R All Nite", "Nothin' To Lose", "Rock Bottom", etc) and more importantly some of the lesser known songs that you didn't hear 'live' on their first 3 live albums, like "Comin' Home", "Plaster Caster", "A World Without Heroes" and "2000 Man". A great live recording - my 2nd favorite from Kiss behind the classic '75 "Alive!". Look for the DVD of the same MTV-Unplugged show - also a classic. This disc is absolutely essential to the Kiss collection (4.5 stars).
