Album Description Two CD set. Live from Nowhere in Particular is the 2008 album from Joe Bonamassa, an US blues guitarist/singer. Guitar One Magazine has stated that 'he just might be the best guitarist of his generation.' His blues-rock style is similar to that of Stevie Ray Vaughan's. In an interview in 'Guitarist' magazine (issue 265), Joe Bonamassa cited the three albums that had the biggest influence on his playing: John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton (the 'Beano Album'), Rory Gallagher's 'Irish Tour' and 'Goodbye' by Cream.

Great player, but something's missing October 9, 2008 MTB (NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bonamassa can certainly play, but the bottom line, for me, is that he just lacks a certain "it" that makes the music resonate with me. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but to me there's just something his delivery that feels superficial. Maybe his vocals-- I dunno-- but I have a few of his CDs and they never stay in the player for long. Hell- the only track I come back to regularly is the Tea for One cover- that he doesn't sing.
Low Energy Effort October 5, 2008 Boston Blues (Boston) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Joe has sold out on this performance. Stick to the format that makes you one of the greatest. Very disapointed in this album.
Gotta give 5 for the chops October 4, 2008 D. Milnes (Jonesboro, AR) So I've been following Joe for about 7 years, and I've seen him live about 6 or 7 times. This release is a bit of a "Joe up until now" concert. It's an attempt to put together his career to this point. The first live release was better, more raw, but the guitar chops on this one are second to none. Joe has a tendency to over-sing a little lately, and get real breathy on the big notes, but he can still wail. Basically, there could have been better song selection, and an acoustic "Heartaches" is a bit disappointing, but Joe is always 5 stars. Buy the disc. If you love blues, Joe, or just guitar...it's worth the price of admission.
Joe Bonamassa September 30, 2008 Big Brew (SW Ohio) His studio work is good but his live concerts are the best. If you get a chance to see Joe live you will not be disappointed. This double CD of live performances is his best yet. jb
Guitar Slinger September 30, 2008 Tim (Roanoke VA) As a longtime fan of Joe B. I am a little disapointed with this effort. I have been to see Joe live twice, and his choice of songs on this CD is rather weak. For a first time fan there are better choices(A New Day Yesterday, So,It's Like That)but for someone such as myself, it's probably worth getting to complete your collection. Highlights include "India/Mountain Time","Woke Up Dreaming","Django". If you like blues with a rock edge the chops and the vocals are here, but the song selection ultimately lets you down.
