Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Presenting twelve songs culled from Browne's extensive and critically acclaimed solo acoustic concerts around the world over the past few years, the disc also captures both spirited and humorous exchanges between Jackson and his audiences, making for a truly intimate listening experience. This new comp, produced by Browne and Paul Dieter, is Jackson's first live release since his 1977 multi-platinum "Running On Empty" album. It also marks the recording debut of a three decades old track, "The Birds Of St. Marks", not previously released in any form. "Solo Acoustic" reaches back to Browne's early years with "These Days" and "Take It Easy", and spans his entire career with other highlights such as "Fountain Of Sorrow", "For Everyman", "The Pretender", and "Looking East". A stirring version of "Lives In The Balance", the title track from Jackson's powerful 1986 album, will be this record's lead single.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The Best   September 16, 2008

Jackson Browne is simply the best! He sells his "product" with such absolute skill and a light-hearted, endearing personality. I loved it!

5 out of 5 stars A superior songwriter / storyteller   September 6, 2008
Thomas Thomsen (Denmark)
Jackson's first album Jackson Browne (1972), sometimes referred to as Saturate Before Using, is - in my opinion - one of the most superior debut albums of all time, so mature, so eloquent, so emotionally charged, the words and the music just breaks my heart, but, you know, it's that hurts-so-good feeling. What's equally impressive is the fact that Jackson managed to maintain the high quality on For Everyman (1973), Late For The Sky (1974) and The Pretender (1975).

Solo Acoustic, Volume 1 was recorded live - with excellent sound - and primarily covers these years. It's a very strong introduction to some of Jackson's best work, so much so that I would recommend that you buy this instead of one of his "best of"-albums.

These Days, Fountain Of Sorrow, Your Bright Baby Blues, For A Dancer, For Everyman and The Pretender are some of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Too Many Angels is one of Jackson's strongest post-70's songs; the original was recorded for the solid album I'm Alive (1993).

3 out of 5 stars a serious complaint   August 10, 2008
Jeff (Virginia, USA)
The atmosphere of these gracious, intimate performances is heavily compromised by the loud and long applause tracks. What were they thinking.

5 out of 5 stars Evocative and Inspiring   August 1, 2008
S. C Sochet (syosset, NY United States)
I now realize the right way to listen to Jackson Browne. Just his voice and a guitar or piano. For 40 years he has written and performed powerful songs and anthems, and whether you agree or disagree with his political views, he sings every lyric with conviction. His rendition of 'Looking East' is worth getting the entire CD, or just download that song. You will be transformed in that 5 and a half minutes.

5 out of 5 stars A little Boring   June 21, 2008

I thought this cd was a little boring. I like more variety. I think he could have picked some better songs.
