I've been an EWF fan for just over half my life - and I'm still on this side of middle age. In college, my first band director, Mr. Burrus, ALWAYS had us take the field with the first song being something from them - namely "In the Stone". And our football team ABSOLUTELY loved "Getaway" - in fact, after one game, they gathered in front of us and requested the song; jumping up and down to the beat with helmets held high. The last album I bought before getting "Illumination" last year was "Millineum". So I'm just checking reviews and getting CDs to replace tapes now. Oh, for you really old school EWF fans, I found "Head to the Sky" and another LP at a Goodwill store in Washington. They're still in playing condition - very few scratches, but I have nothing to play them on.

Some say "Faces" was an underpar album for the band..i couldnt disagree more..infact it's one of my favourites. Released back in 1980 as a double album this has some greatbtracks on it. This is generally a more consistent album tha both follow up albums "Raise" and "powerlight" even thought hey were good albums too. Tracks like "Take it to the sky" "You and i" "A song in my heart" are just vintage EWF. Seriously,don't listen to anyone who says this is a bad album..if they tell you that they are tallking complete rubbish. This ranks alongside "All n ALL" "I'am" as one of their best albums

If you are a fan of EWF, you may not be familiar with this title. This span of EWF's career did not yield many pop chart successes and this album is no exception. Let's Groove was the last pop hit for them. This Cd offers great vocals, horns, percussion and lyrics. There are dance-able tracks as well as tracks that will get you to think.
I would not start my collection with this one but I would DEFINITELY expand mine with it.

I have been looking for this cd for some time now and I love the songs that are on it, EWF has always been one of my favorite groups. This cd is like one of the lost episodes of the best tv show you can imagine. I used to sing the song "You" to my son when he was a born and he would laugh and go right to sleep. That's the soothing comfort & love in this cd. I hope to one day see them perform this cd along with the other best of EWF songs.

The album opens with "Let me talk">>>a very very cool opening tune with interesting words to go along. It runs right into the next tune, "Turn it into something Good">>>A very bright & beautiful song. Then, an even smoother segway into the brilliant "Pride">>>this song hits you hard and never lets up! The next tune is the sweet & smooth ballad "You". If you love "Love's Holiday", "Be Ever Wonderful", "Can't Hide Love" or "Wait", this tune will not grab your heart any less. "Sparkle" is the next brilliant song>>>comes as a gift from the same land called "Fantasy" (from All 'N All). A sweet ride. (pay close attention to the guitars on this one-Al is on the left speaker of your stereo & Johnny is on your right-this may be true with most EWF tunes, but this is one of the songs that really allows it to be heard a bit clearer). "Back on the Road" is awesome! There is obvious originality with the song. But, it sort of gives you an idea of what an EWF/JIMI HENDRIX collaboration would have sounded like! "Song In My Heart" just flows nicely & there go those harmonies and amazing horns again-great! "You Went Away" is pretty heart breaking lyric wise, and I'm sure many would relate>>> Very nice ballad. "And Love Goes On" is a very intelligent up tempo love song. Ah, "Sailaway" is next>>>just sit back relax, listen & chill. "Take It To The sky" puts many a thought into your head and carries you to all sorts of areas. "Win Or Lose" has awesome guitar riffs & great string arrangements. "Share Your Love" is a very positive/feel good tune. "In Time" grabs you and you'll want to hear it again! The finale & title track>>>>"FACES" is next>>>Let me tell you somethin'>>>the musicianship, timing, tempo, words & professionalism of this brilliant tune will blow your mind. Whenever you play it, you'll hear something you didn't hear before. Just as genius as>>"Zanzibar", "Spasmodic Movements", "Africano", "New World Symphony" or "Runnin'". If you only own "That's The Way Of The World", "Gratitude", "Spirit", "All 'N All", "Best Of" and "I Am", then, you're either NOT a true fan or have been living under a very large rock! You must own this album/CD!! "FACES>>>PLACES>>>RACES!!"
