Unbeknowst to me at the time of the album's release, it came with a choice of two covers: a dark sable fur picture or a lighter-colored one (I got the former). In addition to the respective covers, the "locket" on the cover was removable, allowing the purchaser to insert a photo of himself/herself or his/her beloved.
Oh, the 70's was so thematic!!!
That said, the music is typical White: luscious strings, catchy "bedroom" lyrics, and Barry's unmistakable and alluring bass, perfectly suited for any romantic interlude. The two charttoppers are "Playing Your Game" and "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me"; however, the best track is the last one: "Of All the Guys in the World," a song that needs no explanation in expressing how lucky the singer/giver feels to be a part of the listener's/receiver's life.
White always knew the right chords, musically and lyrically, to strike when expressing romanticism at its best.

The quality of BW's albums had come into serious doubt by 1976.This album and the album that came after it,"The Man", show BW at his best since "I've Got So Much To Give".This album has it all.It starts out with "Playing Your Game,Baby" and goes directly into "It's Ecstacy"."You're So Good,You're Bad","I Never Thought I'd Fall In Love You" and a classic BW slow jam in "You Turned My Whole World Around".Add the all-time BW standard "Oh What A Night For Dancing" and you have a classic BW album!
A 200% quality effort that this generation shouldn't just sample,they should use as a textbook on how to make a GOOD album.

By 1977 Barry White had already accumulated an awesome body of work. With six hit solo albums under his belt, The Maestro had a rep for crafting classic R&B cuts, utilising his trademark strings and orcestration as well as catchy riffs and a nice contrast between his deep bass vocals and his female back up.His 7th album 'Barry White Sings For Someone You Love' is yet another great example of the musical genius and originality of The Man. The opening 'Playing Your Game, Baby' is pure FIRE- it features heavy horns and an almost hypnotic harmony, while 'Its Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me' is another banger, riding that heavily sampled fonky beat. 'You're So Good You're Bad' breezes along over a gorgeous orchestral groove, and who can forget 'Oh What A Night For Dancing', yet another classic. This album is a winner thanks in part to the fact that The Maestro successfully varies up his sound and style and introduces new elements to an already strong artillery. The vocals are powerful throughout and a true Wall Of Sound is created. Overall another essential album from that incredible back catalogue Barry White conceived in the 70s.

This album captured the essence of why Barry White was a key figure in the Disco years 1974-1979. Its Ectasy and Playing your game have been sampled by artists such as Mary J. Blige and Ashanti.
