| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com essential recording By the time he hit his stride in 1974 with this chart-topping album, Barry White had firmly established his vocal persona on the contemporary music scene. No fewer than four top-10 R&B hits--two of which had been top-10 pop entries--and two gold albums preceded the release of Can't Get Enough and the man with the deep (and apparently golden) voice was a stealthy force. The allure of White--a Los Angeles native whose early years included a stint as an A&R man with a local record label--lay in his ability to craft relatively simple love songs and embellish them with luxuriant strings, a hard-to-beat rhythm section, and soulful background vocals. The combination is never more evident than on the classic title track and "You're My First, My Last, My Everything," an anthem that seemed to appeal immeasurably to White's ever-increasing pop audience. --David Nathan

Oh Barry, you just keep making it feel so real! Your voice takes me into your world, a place of fantasy & magic where I'm lost in what feels like ever lasting romance, every girl's dream. A unique & timeless piece of artistry brought to us by a sheer genius of song writing who knows what a woman wants to hear & most of all just how to say it! Guys, listen & learn from the master who puts us in the mood each & every time! Barry,we miss you so! I could hook a ride on your star forever!
Barry White album #3 January 19, 2004 brother_ike (L-Boogie) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
By 1974 Barry White had two great albums under his belt ('I've Got So Much To Give' and 'Stone Gon'), as well as an album he conducted with Love Unlimited Orchestra, an all-female ensemble. The Maestro was riding high and rightly so, people were addicted to his fresh and unique sound, a mix of deep bass vocals with a full orchestra and inviting riffs and melodies.'Can't Get Enough' is another shining example of his body of work in the 70s. The two featured songs 'You're The First, The Last, My Everything' and 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe' are still as incredible as they were back in the day. Throughout this album The Maestros arrangements are On Point, the orchestral grooves and muscianship, combined with the contrast of his deep vocals and the female back up make for an altogether dreamy and engaging soundscape. Overall this third album is yet another classic, few artists can compete with The Maestros mightily impressive 70s back catalogue.
A lot of fun but a bit repititive August 16, 2003 Stephan Mayer (sacramento, ca United States) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I remember my DAD having the original 33 which was fun to listen to so naturally this CD is special. However, Barry White is one of those artists whose songs sound a bit alike after a while. So you can buy a GREATEST HITS collection and leave it at that. I bought this one for two reasons: MELLOW MOOD Pt. 1 and the introduction on YOU'RE THE FIRST, LAST, EVERYTHING cause that intro was left off on the GREATEST HITS CD. If you're a long time serious White fan, get this album. Otherwise, a GREATEST HITS album will suffice.
Classic '70s Soul! July 11, 2003 Kelli N. (Texas) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My Mother has had this album since 1974, the year it was first released. I am so thrilled to see it available on CD now! Each song is excellent. Both "Mellow Mood" pts 1 and 2 are superb. Part 1 begins the album, while part 2 brings it to a close. They are perfect to begin and end this album. Barry really knew how to compose music, and this album is a testimony of that. I've loved these songs since childhood, and I still love them today. If you like Barry White and/or really good music, BUY THIS ONE!

I first purchased this recording back in high school on vinyl when Maestro White was coming into his stride with his melodic stirrings..Now that he has passed his music is even more beautiful with its smooth vocals and flowing instrumentals..My favourite track on this disc is I Can't Believe You Love Me - it is soooo sensuous..I spent this past weekend listening to his music over and over. And even though the man has gone to a greater place, his music and the moods he created will live on in the hearts of his fans forever.....
