Amazon.com essential recording Putting together a comprehensive boxed set for an artist such as Barry White--whose multifaceted recording career extends across several decades--is a daunting task, especially considering that the man with the instantly recognizable, unmistakable voice has racked up nearly 50 hit singles in his capacity as a recording artist. Add to that his work as the creator and mastermind of the vocal trio Love Unlimited and the Love Unlimited Orchestra and the notion of a collection that's truly representative of this contemporary pop and soul legend seems nigh on impossible. Fortunately, the compilers of this three-CD set succeeded in capturing all of White's major hits--from his first chart entry (1973's "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby") to "Dark and Lovely," a 1992 duet with fellow deep-voiced lover man Isaac Hayes--as well as selections from the Orchestra (including 1973's unforgettable "Love Theme") and the trio ("Walkin' in the Rain with the One I Love"), giving a complete musical picture of White, the singer, producer, and writer. The addition of a previously unreleased track ("Love's Beginning") and the essential "Secret Garden" (from Quincy Jones's 1990 set, Back on the Block) make this the definitive Barry White collection. --David Nathan

Remember sex? This brings it all back. December 6, 2007 Ms. Barbara Lochner (California) Listening to Barry White is not quite like being young again. But if your memory is still working, these songs will bring it all back. At least in your mind. Just wonderful.
You can't go wrong with this item September 30, 2007 Capital One Platimun I purchased this boxset on cassette many years ago. I am looking to replace my cassettes with CD. I must say the CD's are better quality. I love Barry White. The songs that were chosen, someone knew what they were doing. A majority of his many brillant songs are on this boxset. Buy it!
How Ironic April 25, 2007 RCBIFE (Staten Island, NY) I bought this box set for $37 dollars at Tower Records (no longer in existence) a week after he died, and it was well worth it. "Beware", "Just the Way You Are", and "Walking In the Rain With the One I Love" stand out for me, and I'll always treasure Barry White for what he's done for me and what he's greatly contributed to music.
CLASSIFIED WORK + SOUL + GENIUS + BARRY = The Maestro July 1, 2006 Henry Cooper (Atlanta, GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is overall a Great Box Set which I expect for the very first time. I'd been wanting to get like ever since. It's "The Life and Times of Barry White". Cuts like "Sheet Music," "Change," "Love Makin' Music," "Sho' You Right," etc. are so touchy, good to dance, so hard to find, and mostly smooth, funky, gettin' down, soft 'n slow, whatever I need to subscribe. I followed Barry's work over the years since first hearing "Love's Theme" by the LUO (short for Love Unlimited Orchestra),"Can't Get Enough of Your Love," "Practice What You Preach", "It's Ecstasy", many more I can name. He's such an inspiration and as a artist as well. He helped moved me where I goin' thru my lifetimes and with my first love for music, art and other things. This Man was bad. Ain't nobody does better than the composer-arranger-songwriter-vocalist-conductor-multi-instrumentalist-producer himself. He's such a versatile, heavily underrated artist describing in all different styles of music. He's been gone for 2&1/2 years on, but his legacy still goes on. I was hoping they have any unheard/unreleased material to put out what Barry was fixing prior to his death. Thanks Barry for all the hard work you put in is with your love, your glory, your faith, your strength, your love for God, and putting all of this with your timeless and gifted music. Job Well Done!!!! How come he don't get noticed around or get extra credit? How come? I just ask this question. My favorite song of all is "Can't Get Enough of Your Love Babe" which brought him to the top, that's his #1 song and most signature/trademark song yet.
Can't Get Enough Of Barry? This Collection Should Give You Your Fill July 8, 2005 Anthony Nasti (Staten Island, New York United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Barry White was and remains one of the finest R & B artists who ever existed. He created excellent music and had a large legion of fans who worshiped him as the Bard of the Bedroom. Even after his untimely death in 2003, his music still lives on and you can have it all on this 1992 boxed set, fittingly titled "Just For You". Disc one collects all of his major hits. This is where you'll find the timeless classics "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe", "Never Never Gonna Give You Up", "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby", "You're The First, The Last, My Everything", "What Am I Gonna Do With You" and "It's Ecstasty When You Lay Down Next To Me", all of which were major hits in either America, the U.K., or for the most part, both. This collection also has a lot of great underrated gems such as "Don't Make Me Wait Too Long", "Your Sweetness Is My Weakness", and "L.A. My Kinda Place". A great starting disc, and it's nice to hear undedited versions of the songs. Discs two and three have a wealth of midchart singles and vastly underrated album tracks like "Change", "My Sweet Summer Suite", "Sho You Right", "I've Got So Much To Give", "Love Serenade" and many others. it also includes the Love Unlimited hit "Walkin' In The Rain With The One I Love" and the full version of his excellent version of Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are". It also includes collaborations with other artists such "Dark And Lovely" (a great song with Isac Hayes), the smash Lisa Stansfield song "All Around The World", the Big Daddy Kane duet "All Of Me", and the multi-artist "Seduction Suite". This is simply a perfect boxed set that you must own. Otherwise you are depriving yourself of the finest R & B music that has ever been recorded.
