Album Description Four years since his last studio album, and following up on his highest charting radio single ever ("Personal Jesus", from Lest We Forget), Marilyn Manson returns with "Eat Me, Drink me". Art openings, soundtrack appearances, and personal circumstance have grabbed headlines for Manson in recent months, setting the stage for the release of Eat Me, Drink Me, which is unquestionably the artist's most personal statement yet. Always the provocateur, in what may be the ultimate subversion of the code of aggro-rock, the songs are immediately catchy - all jagged guitar hooks, anthemic choruses, with an overlying glam-rock sheen. Lyrically Manson has never been more riveting, seemingly having enough to draw from in his own life and from society at large to present a fresh, snarling vision.
Album Description UK pressing of the Gothic Hard Rocker's 2007 album adds a pair of remixes of 'Heart Shaped Glasses (When The Heart Guides The Hand)' as bonus tracks (Inhuman Remix By Jade Puget and Space Cowboy Remix). Marilyn Manson has made his best album to date. Written and recorded in six months, it's also his most confessional record. Polydor.

Forget what all these idiots are saying that this album sucks. Actually this 1 of his BEST with Mechanical Animals. This is pure Hard Rock Goth! I'll admit the first time I listen to it I thought it wasn't that great, but after numerous listens, I absolutely love it! The whole album rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!! If your a true Manson fan you'll like it....so just but it!!!!!!! ps-Please play often to get the true effect! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Classic Rock masquerading as Industrial Goth September 25, 2008 D. Rekt (Wicheeta, Kansass) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Absolutely disappointing album...Tim Skold (of Shotgun Messiah and KMFDM fame) produces this in 1970's fashion...he worked on Grotesque with John 5 and produced some amazing results, but this blows...every riff could've come off of a Bad Company record and the electronics are extremely minimal...there are guitar solos on at least half of these songs...meandering crappy solos...full of Jimmy Page rips and 80's glitter tone...why would you have Skold even play guitar?...known for production and bass playing, not to mention vocals in his 80's metal band, he simply pales in comparison to prior guitarists involved with MM...the only saving grace is the vocal tones on this CD...MM's vocals sound great and lyrically (like usual) he is amazing, but who cares without the backing tracks...just a waste of talent...total disappointment...
Mediocre Manson? I didn't think that was possible. September 23, 2008 )(aqri (AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't really think of "rock and roll" when i think of "Marilyn Manson" and this album, save one or two songs, sounds like it's getting real close to that generic rock sound. I believe that's why so many people are disappointed in this album -because it is an off-shoot from what they/we have come to love about Manson and his unique sound. I've always thought taking "new directions" could prove to be a good move for certain artists but my heart always jumps when I hear musicians I admire say they are taking things in new directions. Usually to me that means they've acquired some kind of writers block and/or most of their band quit or have been fired and have since been replaced. However Manson has proven to me time and time again that with each album he has slightly modified his sound and overall image and has still managed to reinvent his music for the better. That being said he's never let me down until Eat Me Drink Me. All and all Eat Me Drink Me is a fantastic album though, unfortunately it's just not up to par with the rest of his stuff... What the actual reason was for such a drastic change in Manson's sound is open to interpretation but in my opinion it seems that you can only produce a great product if you have the right ingredience and some of you might have noticed some key components of Manson have been missing for the last album or two (one Twiggy Ramirez A.K.A. Jeordie White alias Twiggy Ramirez [ha] and John Lowery/John 5). When Twiggy departed after Holywood Tim Skold replaced him. Marilyn Manson was getting increasingly better with every album until that specific event -which was Golden Age of Grotesque (which I want to note I loved) but after John Lowery left, in addition to Twiggy's absence, we ended up with Eat Me Drink Me. Personally I would've thought the matching of Manson and Skold would've been more tantalizing. The pair were only good in Manson fashion for one album, Golden Age of Grotesque, which if I haven't made it clear was incredible but after Holywood it was downhill. I've read some articles recently confirming Jeordie White's return to Manson, thank god. Currently they're writing their 7th album. I just hope the right influential people will be a part of the process this time and maybe we'll see a return to some real Manson. -Fingers crossed-
different but great August 21, 2008 chuck (ky) i love this cd .. its different from the hardcore stuff like anti christ superstar.. but its still Marilyn Manson.. some people think MM should stick to the hardcore sound.. but i like it when MM does different styles cause he puts his unique sound and voice on it.. some of the songs had an 1980's feel to it.. cause some songs had decent guitar solos.. this cd had a nice rock sound to it.. not hardcore but not soft.. just good
