Ghost of Perdition!!!!June 9, 2008 3V0L1NT3NT(Cali) This was the 1st album I got from Opeth, I got it for free. And I was like F*** it. It's free why not give it a listen and check out the DVD. I must say I was blown away after I listen to this album. I almost feel retarded not getting into them sooner.
This album is amazing. I would seriously recommend it to anyone who likes Metal. The songs are well put together and I just love Mikeals voice when he growls as well as sings. Not many people can do both as well as he can I think. I would say which songs are my fav but really...I like them all...but if i had to pick a few that i listen to the most I would say..Ghost of Perdition, The Baying of The Hounds, Atonement and The Grand Conjuration.
Best Opeth album so far!May 20, 2008 Robert V. Curzon(Santa Cruz, CA USA) This album is phenomenal. It is Opeth's best work to date. It is so well balanced and sucks you in from begining to end. Great vocals both harsh and clean vocals from Akerfeldt are his best. This album is truly inspiring, haunting, beautiful, and brutal! The DVD is a nice bonus.

I'm a big Opeth fan, and I really wanted this version of GR.
First, the artwork is outstanding, It has an excelent quality, really beautiful texture on the box.
I'm not going to comment on the cd, since there's no news that GR is one of the best metal albums of the last few years.
Regarding the DVD, the 'making of' is great, and it has some pretty cool interviews and nice scenes.
In closing, awesome buying :D
Why can't 99% of metal bands find a singer who F#$#ing sings!!!!August 9, 2007 Derek C. Kimball(nashville tn) 2 out of 56 found this review helpful
You are all people who should be watched very carefully for the sake of society if you find this music listenable. If you find this music tollerable, you still have suppressed issues from when your uncle touched you the wrong way. Growling into a microphone works in certain instances...but to have that as your main singing voice is just plain retarded. It's like a you can't be a metal band or you are weak in the scene if you make any attempt at singing or having any sence of melodic composure. Some attempt at making the lyrics understandable would be nice as well. I love hard music, but this growling crap isn't singing and isn't enjoyable. Some bands like Mastadon very seldom make an attempt at singing and it sounds great, but they also ruin the rest of their songs with this crap. I don't get it. Such awesome music ruined time and agian by crappy vocals.
5.1 is the way to hear Opeth . . .May 26, 2007 Mark Gatzke(Plant City, FL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Enough has been said about Ghost Reveries, so I won't add anything other than to say I think it's their finest effort yet or at least as excellent as Blackwater Park. This particular issue includes a DVD of the entire album in 5.1 DTS format which takes their music to the next level. Any fan of Opeth who has a home theater system should consider this a necessary purchase. Great care was taken to mix this music to its fullest potential and it delivers in every way. If that's not enough, the inclusion of a bonus track, Soldier of Fortune (a Deep Purple cover), and a fascinating documentary, Beyond Ghost Reveries, should take care of any reservations. All in all, a superb document of a very talented band.
