Great October 4, 2008 Russell S. Dudley (USA) Never had a problem with none of their products that is why i keep ordering stuff from amazon.
Imitated But Never Duplicated! January 1, 2008 Ervin Griffin (Bluefield, WV) Much like New Jack City and Higher Learning, Boyz N The Hood was ahead of its time. I say this about both the film and the soundtrack. The soundtrack, of course, had your share of rap by Ice Cube (How To Survive In South Central), Main Source (Friendly Game Of Baseball), Monie Love (Work It Out) and 2 Live Crew (Hanging Out). It also had some beautiful instrumentals from Stanley Clarke and Quincy Jones. It had an R & B classic from Tony, Toni, Tone with "Just Me And You" and an underrated song called "Spirit" with a very on-point message. Others have come along that have tried to duplicate this and the other two films/soundtracks I've named (think Poetic Justice, Menace II Society and Baby Boy) but only a few have even come close (think Set It Off and Jason's Lyric). Musically, its an example of hip-hop of that era. Its long term influence, however, is much stronger. Quiet frankly, the so-called "artists" of today could learn a thing or two from this and other select albums. Anyway, this soundtrack is recommended both for the points it was trying to make with the music (points which are still relevant today as they were in 1991) and just for a piece of hip-hop history.
WRONG PACKING August 13, 2007 R. E. Magope (Gauteng, South Africa) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
i bought the audio CD, to my surprise i recieved a DVD NOT AUDIO CD.
Great movie, even better soundtrack March 9, 2007 Nuisance (Miami) Personally I loved the movie. The insight given by Laurence Fishburne's character(Furious)evened the movie out so it did not end up in the ignorant hood movie category(Think Menace To Society and Baby Boy). The soundtrack is just as memorable. Standout Tracks: HOW TO SURVIVE IN SOUTH CENTRAL, GROWIN UP IN THE HOOD(Classic CMW s***), JUST A FRIENDLY GAME OF BASEBALL REMIX(creative classic by Main Source), WORK IT OUT(shout out to Monie Love), EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND, SPIRIT, JUST ASK ME TO(I'll admit I like this one), SEPTEMBRO(Quincy Jones is a genius) and BLACK ON BLACK CRIME(and so is Stanley Clarke for this masterful score). Filler: 2 Live Crew's Hangin Out is corny as hell. Bottom Line: This soundtrack should accompany the good movie that spawned it. Minus the 2 Live Crew track, the rest of the soundtrack is every bit as memorable as the movie. Good Times!
What's the song played at end of movie?? November 21, 2006 spawn anderson (USA, MA) I am looking for the song played at the end of the movie when tre is talking to doughboy , it doesnt have any words-- but It isnt on the soundtrack . . . can anyone help?
