| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description There'd be no Nirvana, Beastie Boys, or Red Hot Chili Peppers were it not for hardcore pioneers such as Black Flag, Bad Brains, and Minor Threat. Hardcore was more than music; it was a social movement created by Reagan-era misfit kids. Featuring twenty-six definitive tracks, this is the audio companion to the feature-length documentary, released by Sony Pictures Classics in September 2006. Artists include Black Flag, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Circle Jerks, Cro-Mags, Adolescents, Die Kreuzen, Flipper, Gang Green, Negative Approach, DOA, MDC, DRI, and more.

Should be required listening before starting a band March 16, 2008 J. Hendricks No, not EVERYONE'S favorite tracks are represented here but this is a VERY GOOD brief overview of the genre. It's a place to start if you're not familiar with Hardcore and may cause 90% of your current record collection to become obsolete (at least until you're old enough to realize that liking only ONE kind of music is kind of silly). This record should be copied a million times and handed out to the poor kids who go to Good Charlotte concerts thinking they're "punk". Today's youth aren't brainless! They just have a hard time finding the real stuff! P.S. (No Kennedys or Misfits due to the ongoing legal entanglements between all the former members. Same deal as the movie.)
If you like punk, this is for you. February 13, 2008 Jeannine Peterson (Las Vegas) I saw a concert in LA w/Fear, Circle Jerks, and Black Flag. Wow this really brought it all back. If you like punk or want to get in touch with the punk movement of the 80s in the US this is for you.
rocks October 19, 2007 D. Jasper is the music on the sampler the right music i just don't soud like the right bands
Good Hardcore Comp. September 19, 2007 H. Hitner (Los Angeles, CA) My guess is that Glenn Danzig didn't grant them permission to use his songs on the compilation. Could be the same with Jello and DK. Lord knows if they presented every great tune from that era it would be a box set. Good songs on this one none-the-less.
wrong audio clips August 17, 2007 Timothy R. Fortune (wayupstateNYUSA) if you try to play the clips- obviously they're the wrong ones. flipper's hahaha song does not actually sound like vivaldi. i'm buying this album just for hahaha by flipper. the rest is a lot of noise.
