Album Description Ever since the November 2007 digital release of the hilarious, zeitgeist-capturing single "Ur So Gay," Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Katy Perry has been wowing critics and fans alike (including the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna) with her big voice, sassy attitude, and feisty, confessional songs. Katy's debut album, One of the Boys, is a sharp, witty pop-rock gem filled with candid tales of neurotic ex-boyfriends ("Hot N Cold," "Ur So Gay"), crazy road trips with friends ("Waking Up in Vegas"), and figuring out who you are along the way (first single "I Kissed A Girl," "Fingerprints"). While the album displays Katy's feisty, girl-power swagger, it also reveals her more vulnerable side on such regretful ballads as "Lost," "I'm Still Breathing," and "Thinking of You." Although just 23, the Santa Barbara, CA-born native has been writing songs and playing guitar for several years, and possesses the flair and confidence of a veteran storyteller. Catch her in all her glory this summer when she joins the Vans Warped Tour for its entire coast-to-coast run.

GOOD CD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! October 9, 2008 Antonio THIS CD WAS VERY GOOD SOME PEOPLE DON'T LIKE HER BECAUSE OF THE HIT SINGLES I KISSED A GIRL AND U R SO GAY BE SHE MAKES VERY GOOD MUSIC
Can listen to it more than once October 8, 2008 Daniel Murphy (Victoria, Australia) She can sing, she's got some catchy tunes and most of all, she kissed a girl. Katy Perry is about to take the world by storm with the release of her debut album One Of The Boys which is full of catching lyrics and memorable sounds. With her single I Kissed A Girl getting major airplay across Australia, there's probably very few who haven't heard of Katy Perry these days. It's grooving and infectious and a heap of spoofs popping up on YouTube including the inevitable I Kissed A Boy (Gay Remix). Another hit track on her album is Ur So Gay which is a blatant dig at emos. She asks why on earth she went out with a guy who wears more make up than she does. Her voice warbles a bit like Australia's own Kate Miller Heidke. This album goes from the dynamic pop of One of The Boys to the dancing electro of I Kissed A Girl and Hot `n' Cold. She also has a bit of a foray into the alternative scene with Ur So Gay. These are four of the best tracks on the album, although her talent shines through in all the tracks on this record. It's a great listen and at the end you're left wanting a bonus or hidden track so it isn't over just yet. Sorry, there's not. This is the album that Ashlee Simpson should have released to save the career, but she didn't. Fortunately for us though, Perry did! She's an injection of hot new talent to a stale industry which threatened to bombard us with more covers and repetitious disposable albums from soap stars. The album will grab your attention and will have you grinning at some of the lyrics, tapping your foot at a few others and listening attentively at the rest. Grab it, it's hot.
Heterosexist, Sexist Crap. October 6, 2008 C. Spollen (Japan) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Katy Perry is another wayward female jumping on the Sex and the City "I talk about how much sex I have and therefore I am empowered as a Woman despite the repeated making of ill-advised sexual decisions" bandwagon. The songs are boring, glossy, and far too over-produced to suit Katy's fake indie image. Shopping at Fred Flare does not an indie goddess make.

This was a very good cd, there are more good songs on it then just the well known singles.
Better Than Expected October 3, 2008 Janet Morris (Huntsville, AL USA) I was expecting that I would only like the hit single "I Kissed a Girl" when I got this CD. Little did I know that that was one of the weakest songs of the album. I figured that "Ur So Gay" would be one of the worst songs on the album, but it's actually one of the better ones. It's really amazing that Perry was able to blend such enthusiasm and talent with styles from the sixties, eighties, and today to make an interesting album. The best song on the album is "I'm Still Breathing", a ballad, which is so gorgeously written, even though it is a bit depressing. I think the word poetic would not be misused on this song. The album is fun, and not to be missed! Don't just go into it expecting it to suck because you either liked or hated the first song. It's actually a lot more complex than the one song. It's an experience that you will not regret having had.
