| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Singer-songwriter John Mayer fills his debut, Room for Squares, with pep talks to and advertisements for himself. Even when questioning his young life, Mayer's doubts come off glib; not one second of "Why Georgia" convinces that "the stirring in my soul" keeps the artiste awake at night. Between his Dave Matthews-wannabe vocals and the accomplished but bland lite rock of his band, he could be just as easily offering tunes for hire to a coming-of-age network series as making a stand for himself and his worldview. The premise of "City Love"--that Mayer couldn't find his way around Manhattan until finding a girlfriend to root him to the place--is nice but not edifying. "My Stupid Mouth" is similarly fuzzy; letting us in on just what he said to alienate a dinner partner would've gone a long way toward fleshing out the song's pat self-deprecation. Ultimately, Mayer comes off less like a commiserating friend than a blabbermouth who's forever forgetting there's someone else in the room. And instead of whining about a discarded lunch box ("83"), dude, learn to brown-bag it the way the rest of us did. --Rickey Wright

Wow. More than 1,000 Reviews November 2, 2008 J. Ligon (San Francisco) It is amazing that more than 1,000 people took the time to write their feelings and opinions about John Mayer's CD. It almost doesn't matter that some of the reviews are negative. When so many people have stong opinions about an artist, there is something going on. Mayer plays guitar like a champion, and he can sing.
John Mayer "Room For Squares" October 9, 2008 Little Lana (USA) Singer/Songwriter, and Grammy Winner John Mayer delivers a good set of material, including "My Stupid Mouth", "Love Song For No One" and "Unknown". John Mayer has become political this year - Interestingly, in the 2008 Presidential Primary race, New York Senator Hillary Clinton earned more Votes than any other Presidential Primary candidate in the history of America (hillaryclintonforum, the denver group)

John Mayer is such a _______ square. ANd he doesn't even like the Beatles. Just look at the picture of him on the cover. Ha Ha. Poon. You want anything good that's acoustic guitar? Get something by Nick Drake or Andrew Collins (or Mandolin, but close), Elliot Smith, Dave Matthews Band (as long as it's not everyday, ick), R.E.M. heck, the Beatles have an arsenal of wicked, beautiful acoustic guitars. He's retiring, by the way. Can I get a "HELL YES"!!!! -/10 Your NOt Helpful either

This is in my top ten list of best albums of all time. It's perfect! I love every song on it and am confident it will be a favorite of mine forever.

John fits right in. More of the same watered down pop princess guitar work from this overrated loser.
