Another classic from Carly in the 70's! October 14, 2008 MUSICman (Cincinnati, OH) I have all of Carly's CDs(except the two newest) and I always come back to this one! It's fun, relaxing and well sung and arranged. Although it had no hits, it's overall her most satisfying album for me. Cowtown, Libby, In times when my head are my favorites. I wish they would remaster her recordings because I believe the sound could be a lot more improved. No secrets is my other fav from Carly; but it gets more recognition then this CD because of the #1 hit You're so vain.

An Album I just can't get out of my head. July 9, 2008 D. Lanning (SLC, Utah) I first bought the LP in 1980 or so. Just about wore it out. I suppose I could identify with many of the songs as they relate to love and relationships. This album is a sleeper. I love all of the songs. I especially love "It Keeps You Running" with Michael McDonald in the background. Music is so personal and maybe this takes me back to some great memories. I bought the CD and lost it and bought another.
Carly's Passenger! May 19, 2008 Andrew Whaley (Piedmont, SC USA) This is one of Carly's top five best albums. I could never figure out why this album never went far. In my opinion, it's better than "No Secrets". Though Half a Chance and It Keeps You Runnin' are the best songs here. In Times When My Head and Libby are classic Carly masterpieces. Dishonest Modesty" is a fun, funky piece. Fairweather Father and Cow Town are pure 70's fun. This is one of Carly best work's and for first time Carly fan's, this is a good album to get your feet wet in.
Early Carly............. September 20, 2007 Robert C. Hufford (Hopewell, VA USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
.....in a learning stage. This 1976 album catches Carly when she was no longer "folk", and not yet "rock"....no BIG HITS...no sexy album photo [well...nice legs on the back cover]...just great singing, with probably the best guest support cast of any of her albums. Carly was, I think, 31 when this was made, but she was still a "young artist", still developing her niche. Of course, we now know that her niche is large, indeed, covering multiple genre. And she still isn't an "old" artist, and never will be. This is perhaps the closest Carly has ever come to sounding "country'..."Riverboat Gambler", "Cow Town". The folk-singer is still evident..."He Likes To Roll". And, naturally, there are confessional songs..."In Times When My Head", "Dishonest Modesty". With great support, Carly was in absolutely superb voice all the way through. This is, if I have to classify, probably a "rock" album, though it's the least rock of Carly's rock. It is, certainly, a fine album that deserves to be much better known. That it's not is probably due to its not fitting neatly into any one category....
