Anne Kumeh October 12, 2006 CA Kumeh (Ambia, IN) This is my second copy. I purchased my first in 1996 when I was going through a tough divorce and feeling very bad about myself. The music in this CD gave me hope and a new perspective on life. I am now happily married to a wonderful man, feel good about myself and who I have come to be. Although this album didn't do it all, it certainly helped. Just an excellant album for women at whatever stage in their life.
Excellent, eclectic mix of music June 21, 2006 Tracy Vest (Northern California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
"Women for Women" is a compilation CD devoted to breast cancer awareness that manages to combine an eclectic mix of female artists from all genres of music. There is rock and roll with Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge; country with Amy Grant and Kathy Mattea; alternative with Julia Fordham, and Annie Lennox; dance music with Cathy Dennis, Taylor Dayne, and the exquisite Lisa Stansfield; R&B with Vanessa Williams, Oleta Adams, Tina Turner, and the "queen of Soul" herself, Aretha Franklin. This CD opened my eyes and ears to artists that I would not normally seek out (Julia Fordham is now a fave). Each song resonates with the listener; most compilation CD's have several tracks that you just hit next when the first few bars start. Not so with this one - you will listen to it until you wear it out! Best of all, a percentage of the proceeds from the purchase of the CD goes to breast cancer research.
All women should have a copy of this December 10, 2003 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I first bought this on cassette in 1995 - every song on it has touched my heart and at different times in my life each and every song has been applicable. My favorite track is Aretha Franklin's "Through Someone Elses Eyes." This song is so perfect for us women that can lose "ourself" in relationships. I think all women should own a copy. I'm now buying another CD for myself and more for friends as Christmas presents.

This is an amazing collection of great songs from powerful women. I play it all the time in my car, and it really pumps me up. Wonderful collection, you'll never be bored. This is my favorite CD yet.
SOUL SAVER January 24, 2000 ISLAND GIRL EAST (USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This continues to be a special gift that helped me through the roughest grind in my life. "Songs of Life, Love, and Womanhood." Having a friend entering the woes of divorce, I was happy to find it again. It's about loving yourself and womankind and not male-hating, folks.Every song lifts and empowers. I'm thrilled to see there is another album now. Hits like: Annie Lennox-Why, Amy Grant-That's What Love Is For, Lisa Stansfield-(I'm) All Woman, Arethra Franklin- Someone Else's Eyes, Melissa Etheridge- Dance Without Sleeping, Carly Simon- Coming Around Again (medley with Itsy Bitsy Spider towards the end), Kathy Mattea-Walking Away A Winner, Tina Turner-The Best, and Taylor Dayne-I'll be your shelter; I cherish. Women for women--treat yourself, be a sister friend to a fellow lady--let's hope it catches on. Enjoy!
