It's Like That...Remixes aren't what I expected! February 23, 2006 B-Musiq (NC USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love getting Mariah's single because she always has some of the hottest remixes. I must say I was very disappointed with these remixes of "It's Like that". David Morales (Club Mix & Classic Mix) has done a better job of remixing Mariah's songs in the past. These two mixes sound similar. The No Rap Version of "It's like That", Should have never been released. Without Fatman Scoop and JD to hype the track up, It just fails to deliver the goods! The Stero Experience mix, is lengthy but its a good dance track. It's in a class all by itself. This single is worth buying alone for this track. The Original version of "It's Like That" is the hot. Perfect for the first single. This up-tempo track produced by Jermaine Dupri has a nice beat and a catchy hook.
Bad Remixes August 22, 2005 W. L. Yen (Hong Kong, China) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's a pity to see how bad the official remixes of the hottest track this summer "It's Like That" are. Apart from the first and last track in this CD, the rest is discardable. The no rap version sounds lacking especially when after listening to the with rap version, and I really can't think of why would ppl listen to a without rap version of this song. In all remixes, the pace of the song speeded up and that's nice, apart from the fact that DM's mixes (both of them) sound so dated it's almost unbelievable. They have also taken away the cool and laid back feel of the track. In comparison the last track "stereo experience" is so much more better. But really, It's Like That is a great song and deserves remixes that have much much higher quality than these.
Okay, But Enough of David Morales Please..... August 10, 2005 jAmEs FeRnAnDiS (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
even though it wasn't as good as it should have been. the club mixes are okay but could've been done by someone else like Jason Nevins, Hex Hector or Mac Quayle at least for a change. But the song is for the clubs to get your butts to "Shake It Off" all night!
Good Song, But Slightly Disappointing June 28, 2005 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ever since "Rainbow", Mariah has consistanty neglected her seven-octave ballads in favor of hip-hop jams. I don't understand why. Yes, she is part African-American, but Mariah just doesn't seem "ghetto" to me. After there were quite a few ballads on her last release, "Charmbracelet", I thought Mariah's infatuation with hip-hop was over and she'd return to her forte- old-school ballads. No such luck. "It's Like That", the much-hyped first single off of "The Emancipation of Mimi" is as "street" as it gets. If Ashanti or Ciara were releasing this, I'd be satisfied, but I know Mariah aka "Mimi" is capable of so much more. Mariah, BRING ON THE BALLADS!!!!!!!!
Consistent But Not Boring June 17, 2005 Bridgette E. Hahn (Port Angeles, WA., USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although we don't hear very much adlibing or any real additional lyrics as in "Heartbreaker/If You Should Ever Be Loney" or the bliss of "I Still Believe" King's mix, we do see a side of Mariah that has been missing the last few years. Since Charmbracelet failed to produce any real remixes, the lengthy versions here of "It's Like That" are refreshing. The three mixes are sort of the same, but if you're a true Mariah fan, you won't mind listening to a slightly different version a few times on the same disc. The Stereo Experience is the real gem here; Mariah stays subdued and lets the music take over. It's fun to play this version and sing along in the car. ( not that I do that :) These remixes are consistent with the previous works from Morales and Mariah. My only wish is that she let go a little bit more, since I feel that her remixes are her ultimate form of communitcation to her fans, especially since we are so devoted that we buy anything she releases, or at least the majority of us do. I disagree with critics when they say record companies release singles just to pump more money out of the fans. Perhaps they do to some extent, but Mariah puts out quality and quantity at the same time, all the while thinking of us. If you've been wondering about whether or not to buy this single, then you're probably not a true Mariah fan and no one can tell you what to buy anyway. But for those of us who can't wait until anything is released by Mariah, this is a must have. Make sure you get the right one, though. I think the one that does not say IMPORT, only has two tracks, the original album version, and one of the mixes found here. Happy listening to all the lambs.
