Anyone familiar with cultish comedy series Flight of the Conchords will be aware of the wonderful songs that the hapless New Zealand duo Bret and Jemaine concoct for each episode. Tackling all genres, from hip hop and soul to glam rock, the duo create highly original and well-produced tracks that typically satirise the very genre they?re imitating. This album collects together many of the show?s best musical moments, many of them subtly revamped. "Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros" and "Boom" illustrate the pair?s hilarious 'rap' skills. "Think About It" parodies socially minded soul visionaries such as Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield, "Bowie" satirises the 70s icon (especially his prodigious drug use), while "Inner City Pressure" mimics the Pet Shop Boys. Two of the most memorable songs from the series--"The Prince of Parties" and "The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)"--are also both present, making this the definitive FOTC compilation. The humour ranges from offbeat to downright daft, but there's nothing laughable about the production, which is mostly first class. These guys are the most talented, hilarious and straight up entertaining band in many moons. In the middle of listening to an amazing musical arrangement you just crack up with their lyrics. Brillant, brillant, brillant cd.

Not only is this funny the music is good too!It's entertainment nothing more just good entertainment for us with a slightly offbeat sense of humor. These guys are very clever,talented and not bad as musicians..Hey it made a long 2k road trip pass by quicker!

This deserves 0 stars actually. There is no and has never been any place for humour in music. Especially in rock. It always comes over as coy somehow. Now, I have never seen the "comedy" seried from which this music comes but at least taken out of situation it does not fare well. One song of its kind is ok, 2 are tiring and then you want to stop. And actually the first song is the worst so it does not go well from there. The styles are way too varied as well in order to provide any kind of unity as an album. Anyone serious about music should avoid this kind of tiresome student project.

Everytime I listen to any track on this CD it makes me laugh and think of the episodes those songs come from. If you like the series you'll like the CD a lot.

Although Flight of the Conchords may not be a "real" band, this is a fantastic album. Of course the lyrics are hilarious, but even the melodies are good. Play it during your next party and see what kind of a reaction you get.
