Product Description Want to learn how to dance like Britney and NSync? Then pick up Darrin's Dance Grooves! Like TaeBo, Darrin's Dance Grooves has created a new pop phenomenon! A dynamic young dancer, choreographer and star of Club MTV and Showtime's Soulfood TV series, Darrin Henson has choreographed videos for J-Lo, Britney Spears, NSync and Christina Aguilera and has won MTV Video Music Awards.
Amazon.com Learn some of the hottest dance moves you've seen in music videos, award shows, and concerts from the likes of Britney Spears, 'N Sync, and Jordan Knight from this 55-minute video. Darrin Henson moves with limbs of taffy as he teaches the energetic and innovative moves he choreographed for the biggest celebrities. He breaks down the patterns into individual moves, then quickly puts the moves together, and then you perform the pattern with video clips from the stars for whom it was choreographed. Great fun! Unless you're blessed with instant recall, though, you'll need to rewind segments of the tape frequently to learn the moves. And unfortunately, Henson cues his own "right" and "left" instead of the viewer's (the opposite, because you're facing him), so you have to continually reverse his directions in order to mirror his moves. Recommended for limber, experienced dancers--coordination required! --Joan Price

This video stinks!! September 24, 2007 Kerry Ann Wirges (Anthem, AZ USA) I agree with the awful teaching, but what was worse for me was the camera angles. We need to see the WHOLE BODY, people!! Showing a close-up of the torso while trying to get certain steps down is ridiculous! Getting creative with camera angles is not helpful during an instructional video. The best thing to do is just set the camera steady and let us see the whole body. The whole thing was a mess!
Great Popping and Locking Routine July 19, 2006 Jean Reynolds (Winter Haven, FL USA) Most of the choreography on this DVD is lackluster and uninspiring. But there's a great--and very simple--popping/locking routine at the end. It's very different from everything else on this DVD. And there are some brief but helpful technique points at the end of the DVD.

This video was great if you're a beginner. I had NO IDEA what I was doing, and my friends were still amazed by the dance moves I got down! You only have to watch it like 10 times, and it is SO WORTH IT!!!! But I think it's only for Beginners-Advanced Dancers.
Not for Beginners October 21, 2005 Adrian (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a fun video to watch and it has a good message. But its NOT as easy as "1,2,3". I teach some of these same moves to my students and we have to take a great deal of time with each element of the more complex steps. This video is great if you can already dance this style and just want to learn some new moves. But it will be very dissapointing for someone who has never tried this before. I have it in DVD and that allows me to review and slow down the action much easier than you could with VHS. Still, it is challenging. Worth having, but not as a first instructional. Also, it is a bit dated by todays standards. But still fun.

Basically, this instructional video is poorly shot. I agree with Amazon's review about having to reverse the "right" and "left" directions. It is a little confusing. It also does not help that the camera seems to be on a slight angle. Many times it is also in so close you can't see feet when he's telling you to step. I've been a dancer for 20 years and was too frustrated to finish the video.
