Great variety, beautifully produced December 7, 2007

Every holiday playlist needs as much variety as possible to keep it fresh, and this CD is the perfect choice to answer that need. Keyboards, reeds, guitar, and vocals all have their moments to shine in these selections, in a number of different rhythmic styles. The 15 tracks, totaling over 57 minutes, are performed by such a great assortment of artists that it would be hard to pick favorite tracks from this collection. However, I should give special mention to Dave Grusin's solo piano rendition of "Some Children See Him," the final track, that provides a warm and memorable closer for the album.
The arrangements are tasteful and the production superb. It's been nearly 20 years since this was recorded, and it still delivers a contemporary sound that will make you, your family, and your friends feel festive and hip at the same time.

This CD ranks as one of the best, from the selection of songs to the high caliber of the musicians performing them. The arrangements take these classic Christmas songs and turns them upside down and inside out straight into the 21st century. the recording is top notch which is to expected from a record company formed by a musician. get this one you won't regret it

this is definitely the best christmas cd my family owns. we listen to it maannny many times each christmas season and it is a staple in our stereos! it has become part of our family's tradition to listen to it as we decorate the tree!
the musicianship is just gorgeous and each song really displays the artist's fantastic talents. now that i am older, i can fully appreciate how wonderful the musicians on this disc are- each song is so complex and beautifully crafted and its great to listen to and find parts of each song that you might have missed in previous listens. as a musician myself, i admire these jazz virtuouso's and believe it is an amazing christmas cd to be owned by anyone who can appreciate true musicianship.

This is by far the best of many Christmas albums out there, and certainly the best of the 3 samplers. Dave Grusin's arrangement of "Some Children See Him" is stunning. I've had more friends and co-workers ask for a copy of this CD or where they can get it. It is "ambient" perfection for anytime during the season. Whether you are entertaining, wrapping gifts, relaxing, decorating the tree or the house; it's just a perfect selection of artists and great music!
