Is It really Supernatural? April 19, 2008 Michael Kerner (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) When it has came down to record sales, R.E.M. hasn't really had much success with getting new listeners into their driven, Alternative style. Nevertheless, it is very sad because the music they've made for so many years still rings a bell. Their latest single is no acception a great song, and a good return to the style of Michael Stipe's distinctive voice. Supernatural Superserious, the first single from the trio's latest album, Accelerate, is a really good rock song, that redifnes the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers songs that are great to listen to. While the song isn't as strong as classics like Losing My Religion or The One I Love, it still is honestly a lot better to hear than the latest from wannabe acts like Jordin Sparks or Britney Spears. I just hope that R.E.M. can make get that new perspective to a younger generation who really doesn't know what great music is. Song: B-

REM is BACK! March 18, 2008 tunestony (Dayton, OH) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a great song! All the elements of a classic REM record are here: a catchy hook, a spirited vocal from Michael Stipe, some jangly guitar from Peter Buck, great background harmonies from Mike Mills, and the best drumming since Bill Berry left. Even the production sounds big; reminiscent of 1987's "Document". I know a lot of people had given up on them...it's great to have them back.
R.E.M. give us a great new song! February 24, 2008 Christian Lopez (Los Angeles, CA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really liked this song when I first heard a preview on the band's website. It has a great guitar riff, the harmonies between Michael Stipe and Mike Mills are present, and it has a revitalized sound that has been somewhat lacking on recent releases. This songs sounds like a mix from something out of Lifes Rich Pageant and Monster with the harmonies from Out of Time. I'm really looking forward to the full length LP scheduled to come out in April!

This song sounds more like their earlier work. It would've fit in on Document. Very catchy. Can't wait for the rest of the album.
