Album Description Since shooting to stardom on the second season of American Idol, Clay Aiken, the Raleigh, NC, native with the powerhouse voice has become a international pop phenomenon who has sold six million albums. In addition, Aiken has launched eight live tours, made the New York Times best-seller list, and won several American Music and Billboard Music Awards. In January 2008, Aiken made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning musical Monty Python's Spamalot. When Clay began the search for songs to record for Aiken's first album of original material since his 2003 chart-topping debut Measure of A Man, he fell in love with a song written by OneRepublic front man Ryan "Alias" Tedder called "On My Way Here." The message of the lyrics -- how the lessons we learn while growing up shape us into who we become as adults -- struck such a deep chord with Aiken that it wound up inspiring the theme (and title) of his new collection. To musically represent the album's lyrical theme, Aiken and Foster enlisted Grammy-Award winning British songwriter and producer Kipper, who has worked with Sting, Chris Botti, and Julia Fordham.

Great CD With A Nice Variety Of Different Types of Music May 17, 2008 This CD "On My Way Here" by Clay Aiken is a very good CD with different types of music to satisfy anyones taste. I found it really enjoyable and have been recommending it to everyone. I cannot say that I have a favorite song as they all appeal to me. Good job with this CD Clay and I hope that there are more great CD's from you to follow.
Bravo Clay! May 17, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a really good cd. Hopefully people will give it a chance and not listen to some of the so-called music critics out there who obviously have an agenda, usually a personal attack. It's interesting that most of the critics are male, probably about the same age, who probably would not like Clay or this kind of music no matter what. I like all kinds of music...and this is good music with great vocals.
disappointing. Average, at best May 16, 2008 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
Its not that this cd is bad, it isn't. It just is completely forgettable, and somewhat boring. After the first 5 songs, I was tempted to stop it, and put it aside. I continued listening. It did get somewhat better. Where I draw the line, is posssibly the best song on the disc. The real me, showed Clay, as a tender man; very understated for Clay, which is a big deal, considering his tendency to grandstand. Unfortunately, those are possibly the only 2 standouts. Sadly, he peaked with his first cd. It contained a few standouts, Invisible, I will Carry you, Shine, and No more sad songs, amongst filler, but even the filler, was above average. The standouts where so good, that it made the cd a essential. This cd however is just average at best. IT won't win him any fans, and sadly, may push some away with its mediocrity. He's still better than the Velvet TDbear :)
Thanks Clay May 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We waited a long time for a new CD and as a Claymate. It was so worth the wait.
We will always love you Clay
A relaxing listen May 15, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
When reviewing a CD, it's hard for a reviewer be completey unbiased. Much depends upon the type of tastes the individual has in music. I listen to a variety of music from Alternative Rock, Rock, Pop and some blues and jazz. What I listen to at a particular time depends upon mood and circumstance. This CD fits the mood of wanting to sit back relax and tap your foot to some beautiful instrumentals and vocals. Most of the songs are mid tempo reflection of things that happened in life songs. If you're looking for a relaxing "feel good" music you'd likely hear on lite radio stations this is the type of CD you'd want to give a try. If you're looking for something to dance to or jam to then I don't think so. Whether you like the CD or not I think will depend upon your music preferences. Two songs I thought stood out from the rest in style and sound.
Something About Us: This has a nostalgic love song feel to it. The kind of love that everyone searches for. It's the type of song you would have for a slow first dance in a wedding reception or aniversary song. I think it's absolutely beautiful in lyrics and sound.
Lover All Alone: From weddings and ultimate love, this song does a 180 and is a heartwrenching song about thinking you've found the perfect love only to find it all an illusion. The loneliness of finding your dreams smashed and wondering if the love inside of you will find someone to share it with.
I can't criticize the vocals, I think he always has had a heckuva voice. I'd recommend it for those looking for that light pop sound.
