A pop masterpiece January 3, 2009 Hugues Orsetti (MANOSQUE France) All I want to say is that this album is Tegan & Sara's masterpiece, and I mean it, 200%, for the only reason I couldn't get into their following works (So Jealous and The Con) due to their awfully compressed electronical sound. Here, it's organic and way more contagious, like every pop record should be, in the Everly Brothers-Beatles-Blondie axis. This is the one. A miracle. Looks like Tegan & Sara themselves and most of their fans aren't even aware of it. So, I thought I had to tell everyone. :o)
Good canadian music November 30, 2008 David Lesbarreres (Canana) On their way to the success, Tegan & Sara produce what will throw the bases fo their album The Con. You may not recognise all the melodies but, if listening consequently, these 2 albums share a lot and present also some differences. If you are a late fan, this early album is definitely a good one to have.
The start for a unique style October 28, 2008 Brooke A. Searle (SLC, UT) Tegan and Sara have created a unique style, best discovered on their most recent album "the Con". For all Tegan and Sara fan's "If it was You" is a much needed album to add to the collection, however it is not their best. This album branches away from "Business of Art" and marks a beginning in their discovery for their unique sound. This cd includes what I like to call Tegan and Sara classic's such as "Monday, Monday, Monday" and "Not Tonight". These catchy, yet very well thought out songs are often heard on You tube as well as mixed CD's and Ipod's of Tegan and Sara fans. Check it out for yourself. Although this is not my favorite Tegan and Sara CD, the dynamics, structure, and emotions behind each song are very well thought out.
Love Tegan and Sara March 16, 2008 S. Fauver 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The first album I bought from Tegan and Sara was "The Con" and then "So Jealous" and now "If it was you" and I love them all. I dig their music in such a way that I have to turn it up to take in all the elements of the song. These are very talented singer/songwriters and I'm so glad I found them. Give this album a listen and if you like it don't hesitate to get "So Jealous" and "The Con". If you get "The Con" make sure you get the one with the DVD with it.
LOVE this cd! September 7, 2007 J-Lovely (Pasadena, CA United States) I'm a new T&S fan and bought this cd and "So Jealous" after reading Amazon reviews. T&S have great, unique voices and the lyrics are actually worth listening to. The music on this album is so varied so you get the perfect mix of unplugged stuff and tracks that rock but don't shred your nerves. Great music to drive to or to tune out my coworkers ;)
