Great CD- I was impressedSeptember 14, 2008 E. Mosley(Houston, Texas USA) This CD really impressed me even after 2 years of it being out I still jam it. I am shocked that it is not played more. It has a great story and displays the power of Hip Hop.
Belly - The RevolutionJune 10, 2007 Constant(Vancouver, BC Canada) Belly's debut album is "The Revolution" (2007). My introduction to Belly came when attending a Snoop Dogg/Ice Cube concert, Belly who has has Palestine ancestry reps Ottawa, Canada as his home. This is a double album, with two disc's "The People" & "The System". Standout track's for me include: "I Swear" which features an appearance from Rap Legend Scarface and is about being incarcerated/discriminated against for a crime one did not do & the deep "Goodbye" my current favourite (dedicated to a deceased friend) a collaboration with Monique who laces the track with some soulful vocals. Belly & Lebanese singer Massari reunite for another collaboration with "Ya Dunya". Belly & Kurupt deliver a simple but effective banger with "I'm the Man". Belly provides a thugged out track backed by hard hitting beat on "B Variable", and rhymes about having a "History of Violence". Feeling the production on "Leave Me Alone" a track where Belly rhymes about being betrayed by a friend who dies. High profile guest appearances come from Fabolous on "The Freshest" & Mario Winans on "Ridin". Belly rhymes about his loyalty to a woman on "Kill For You". "Don't Be Shy" feat. Nina Sky & "Pressure" feat. Ginuwine are commercial singles which have being getting a reasonable amount of play on the radio here. It's hard for Canadian artist's to sell a lot of records, I think Belly benefits some from collaborating with some well known artists, and getting solid production as it provides some diversity to this release. Belly's "The Revolution" is a decent release worth checking out.
