This CD is amazing. If you are abroad, get the 2 CD version- this CD would deserve 6 stars if that additional CD was available. My house mate and I are total fans and we love to listen to this CD. The duo with Julieta Venegas is especially outstanding. Bose fans everywhere should include this CD in their collections.

I think that fusion is one of the best things that a person can do in almost everything, and personally I think that what Bose did for this biggest hits album, couldn't have been better. Because re-releasing the same old songs in one format is nice but doesn't give anything new. But re-releasing them with a fresher sound and next to some of the most successful singers in the latin field, that's simply flawless.
"Papito" includes duets with Julieta Venegas, Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz, Juanes, Alaska and Shakira between others. Most of the songs sound better now in a duet but I have to admit that others sound better on their original version. Like for example "NADA PARTICULAR" next to Juanes. I like Juanes and have most his albums but his voice sounds simply horrible. He is the kind of singer that sounds good singing music with more background sound. The song was killed actually (hear the original version and I think you're going to agree with me). Talking about Miguel's talent or the talent of the guests is senseless because everybody knows about that. But there are two things that I must recall. One is the "comeback" of Sasha Sokol (from Munecos de Papel) and the very impresive performance of Bimba Bose (Miguel Bose's niece). This girl is very good looking, has a great voice and really performs very good. Actually "COMO UN LOBO" where she sings is I think one of the best songs of the album if it isn't the best.
This album has found big reception everywhere. In Spain the album debuted directly at #1 and stayed there for several weeks. In the US the album reached #6 on the Top Latin Albums Chart and #160 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums List. The single "NENA" (next to Paulina Rubio) has been so far the biggest hit of the album becoming a Top 10 latin hit and recieving a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year.
This is a great album, if you like Bose I think that you're not going to dislike it at all.
Yo creo que la fusion es una de las mejores cosas que alguien puede hacer, y creo que para relanzar tus mejores canciones en un disco recopilatorio, puede ser lo mas divertido. Para "Papito" Bose se une junto agrandes de la musica latina como Paulina Rubio, Juanes o Alejandro Sanz y la verdad es que las canciones suenan muy bien (algunas la verdad suenan mejor en version original. Como es el Casa de "NADA PARTICULAR". Me gusta la musica de Juane pero la verdad es que su voz en esta pista simplemente no suena nada pero nada bien). Hay dos cosas que debo remarcar sobre "Papito" y es la vuelta de Sasha Sokol (de Munecos de Papel) y la gran impresion que me dio Bimba Bose, sobrina de Miguel. Esta chica es muy guapa y ademas canta muy bien y su voz la ayuda mucho. "COMO UN LOBO" donde ella canta es tal vez la mejor cancion del disco. Este album ha tenido mucho exito en todos lados. En Espana ha sido #1 por varias semanas y en Estados Unidos debuto en el #6 de los Top Latin Albums y en el #160 de Los 200 Mas Importantes segun Billboard. El sencillo con mas exito ha sido "NENA", junto a Paulina Rubio que hasta recibio una nominacion a un Grammy.
Solo puedo decir que si te gusta Bose, este disco te va a gustar mucho.

Papito is a re-recording of Miguel Bose's most memorable hits by some of the most recognizable contemporary artists of today's hispanic music scene. Bose sings together with each artist in every track, and I found that the peculiar style of each artist does come through pretty well despite the songs being past hits. You hardly need to look at the back of the album to figure out who is signing with Bose in each song. I only failed to give it 5 stars because there are no new compositions, even though all the recordings are original for this release.
Definitely recommended for all Miguel Bose fans, and for fans of any of the artists included in the album!

Particularmente disfruto de las reversiones, en especial cuando el mismo interprete decide participar; es como si se dijera: "Hey, podia haberlo hecho mejor", o "Que tal sonaria con arreglos de este o aquel genero actual".
Para las personas que prefieren escuchar sus exitos en version original e inclusive no tolera las versiones en vivo, este sera un album decepcionante. Bose ha querido experimentar bastante con cada cancion y se ve que permitio mucha influencia de los artistas invitados.
No todas las versiones han quedado geniales y algunas no le hacen honor a sus versiones orginales, pero si se esta atento, la mayoria invita a descubrir nuevos sabores en platos ya degustados. Intentare dejar mis impresiones sobre las canciones que ya conocia y sobre aquellas que aun no conociendo me han encantado.
Amante Bandido: Llena de arreglos electronicos para hacerla mas bailable, pienso que una cancion iconica como esta no necesitaba volverse mas pop. El resultado: una version mas bien sosa al perder la fuerza que tienen impresa los versos en la version original. Un patron de bajos infame, que parece interminable, asi como la melodia electronica y repetitiva que le anadieron a los coros. La voz grave de Alaska debilita aun mas los versos pegajosos y dramaticos del Bandido original.
Sevilla: De nuevo apuesta a arreglos electronicos, esta vez asincopados y un poco mas complejos que recuerdan los samplings de St Germain. Esta vez logra una sinergia perfecta con melodias orientales en la guitarra. La voz de Amaia Montero condimenta deliciosamente los versos y el violin de fondo deja el sabor agridulce y nostalgico de Sevilla. Finalmente remata con arreglos en trompeta de la melodia oriental inicial, excelente cierre...
Los Chicos no Lloran: Arreglos vocales polifonicos, tonos mas agudos para ajustar la cancion a los registros vocales de Summers y una cadencia mas rapida se unen para crear esta version refrescante de Los Chicos y que invita a bailar.
Morena Mia: No conozco la version original, pero ritmos electronicos asincopados y la exquisita voz de Julieta Venegas hacen de esta la mejor cancion del disco, para escucharla una y otra vez siendo imposible saciarse. Hay una fuerte influencia de Venegas, con arreglos de acordeon y cadencia vocal asincopada. Me recuerda mucho a Fiona Apple.
Este mundo va: Smooth Jazz, NuJazz, Musica electronica al estilo de Moby, son algunos de los generos que me llegan a la cabeza con esta pieza. Es una version diferente de una de las canciones mas representativas de Bose, y pasa a convertise en una joya de coleccion para los amantes de las reversiones como yo. Sin duda la apuesta mas arriesgada de todo el disco.
Nena: Esta cancion , junto con la version de amante bandido son las notas discordantes del disco, la apuesta de volver mas pop el pop sin duda no le hizo justicia a niguna de ellas. Mi esposa me habia hablado de este disco y antes de comprarlo, vi el video de esta version en la TV, me dije: si todas las canciones son como esta, Bose la embarro. "Hideous" la llamaria Simon Cowell.
Bambu: Es una version mas electronica que la original con algunos arreglos de guitarra acustica deliciosos. Por suerte Martin solo acompana en los coros y uno que otro grito intercalado de las frases en ingles. No es especial, pero esta bastante aceptable.
Si Tu No Vuelves: Esta es para mi la cancion mas romantica de Bose y mi favorita. Cuando lei la portada del disco y vi que la habia hecho con Shakira, pense que la habria destrozado. Sin embargo la sorpresa fue grata, Shakira no canta con la afectacion que la caracteriza (solo en algunas partes, pero que le vamos a hacer, es Shakira) y nos deja disfrutar de su hermosa voz, aportando mayor dramatismo a las frases mas nostalgicas. Si bien me quedo con la version vieja, esta es bastante disfrutable (los versos extra agudos de Shakira hacia el final hacen que la cancion nos toque aun mas).
Compre la edicion especial del disco, la cual trae una cd extra con versiones a duo de canciones que no son de Bose. Alli incursiona en varios generos musicales que van desde el blues, pasando por el pop, el rock y ritmos latinos. 100% recomendable.
