Great breakthrough artist! November 12, 2008 M. Brown (Philadelphia, PA USA) I discovered Tyrone Wells 10/10/08 at the World Cafe Live when he opened up for Jason Reeves. I had no intention of staying the whole show, but I'm sure glad I did. He was tremendous. I bought his first two cds right on the spot. This cd had alot of his older stuff as well as 6 new songs. If you have a chance to see him live, Go for it! You will not be disappointed! As for this cd, buy it. It will change your life! His songs are so heartfelt and honest, without being corny. I highly recommended all his cds. Also, he has a new cd due out end of Jan 09.
Great CD September 23, 2008 N. Sorrel (the batcave) Very soulful. Everyone i burn this for loves it. Do the world a favor and encourage good music by supporting this very talented guy.
A little John Mayer, a little Lenny Kravitz, some Johnny Lang, and a whole lotta passion April 11, 2008 R. Kyle (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The first cut on this CD, "What are we fighting for" was what I heard first on a local indie channel here. I was interested enough to check it out on iTunes. Big surprise, I liked most of the cuts and ordered the whole CD from Amazon. "What are we fighting for" is pretty self explanatory, but this up-beat anti-war anthem deserves more than just another chalk mark towards artists who are weighing in for peace. The ending gospel chorus "I had a dream.." will get you up singing. There've been a lot of songs about loving someone the way they are, but Wells takes that theme and re-addresses it one more time with "Baby Don't You Change". It's still about a pretty face, but it's a strong love ballad and if I were a guy, I'd add this to my 'get out of trouble with the girlfriend' playlist. "Jealous Man" is about a man behind bars warnings others away from his girl. He's got two things to tell you about his girl, "one, leave her alone" and "two, leave her alone." This one's just plain hair-raising. "Looking at her Face" compares a lover's face to a sunset and it's just glorious. This is a sweet love ballad and almost a shock after "Jealous Man." Yes, this is a wide variety of well-done music and it's very much worth listening to. Give Tyrone Wells a listen. He's hard to categorize, but well worth the time to hear.
Groovy! February 10, 2008 A. A. Glines (RESCUE, CA USA) Tyrone Wells is just funky awesome goodness! Great music, clever and often intriguing and heartfelt lyrics that make you bounce in your seat and sing along. What a great band. And did I mention how much I liked this album
complete enjoyment January 19, 2008 J. Hilderbrand (Coastal Oregon) I heard "what are we fighting for" on an alternative radio station & fell in love with it from the first time. I ordered the cd based on the single - and LOVE LOVE LOVE the entire thing. It's one of my faves, I'm playing it all the time & making my friends listen & love it too!
