Amazon.com This cool collection of songs should appeal even to those who have little or no interest in the Showtime drama it's tagged to. The first thing you notice listening to the CD is how rare it is to get a compilation entirely focused on female voices. The second is that though the stylistic range is fairly wide--going from Nina Simone to Pink via Fiona Apple and Kelis--there's also a strong sense of consistency throughout because most of the tracks tend to deliver big doses of fun. The best moments are the most unexpected ones: French trio Prototypes's "Je Ne Te Connais Pas" is handclappingly infectious, while Pink bursts out with a full-throated anthem, "Long Way to Happy," that Melissa Etheridge fans will likely enjoy. Best news of all: the widely disliked theme song is nowhere to be heard, though its author, BETTY, contributes the CD closer, "Barnyard." --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Diverse Soundscape December 6, 2008 Mark Allen (Albany, NY United States) This differs from another "The L Word" compilation but is equally inspired and inspiring. I have one word for you: Betty. Betty, Betty, Betty. Who is the cellist for Betty? She is terrific! The cello is a clever yet oft overlooked way to deliver a melodic bassline. I usually hate the aquisition of tags that have nothing to do with the music, e.g. feminist, anarchist, punk. If this album is chick music I'm overtly willing to make an exception. Kudos.
Love the variety of Music May 14, 2007 V. Moss (Chattanooga) I really enjoy the variety of music on this CD. I've been introduced to new groups and songs by established artists that did not make top 40. Magic Tree, Ride a White Horse, Long Way to Happy, and Living Proof are my favorites. I rediscovered Tori Amos and of course Betty Rocks!

I really enjoy the different types of music on this CD. I would recommend L Tunes to anyone that has a great ear for music and its meaning.
Never disappointed March 20, 2007 K. Webb (Houston, TX) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have every CD soundtrack for the L Word and they just keep getting better and better!
Betty Rules! February 12, 2007 Bonnie E. Rice (Fairfax, VA) I have no idea who Elisabeth Vincentelli is but she has not polled the U.S. on the L Word theme song. My poll of 100 people was 90% loved the theme song and 10% liked it. Hate reviewers that put their opinions in print as fact. CD is great and if you haven't seen or listened to Betty Rules do yourself and favor and dive into Betty -
