| Customer Reviews:
Fantastic Piano Quintet December 8, 2008 Robert S. Costic Weinberg (also spelled Vainberg) is a Soviet composer of considerable skill who has been getting more attention over the past ten years. A few weeks ago I saw the ARC Ensemble perform his Clarient Sonata and Piano Quintet live, and the performances were impressive enough that I purchased their CD. Weinberg's works are always tuneful, as can be evidenced by these works, and out of them I love most his Quintet, which is full of ideas, tension, and dramatic flair. For those who would like a point of reference, I would grant that there are some similarities between Weinberg and Shostakovich.
