Lewis rocks November 2, 2008 Liberal Elitist (Reader) (Sacramento, CA) I bought this cd to replace an old Huey Lewis cd. I had no idea how many hits he has written, and enjoyed hearing all my favorites from the 80's and 90's. I now know why he had so much staying power. The cd is diverse and fun to listen to.
this rocks! October 6, 2008 Sherri L. Viau (Bark River, MI) If you're a child/teen of the 80's you'll want to get this! Every time a song came on I couldn't believe it was another great song of theirs that I had forgotten about. What an awesome CD! I highly recommend it!
Do you like Huey Lewis And The News? August 27, 2008 American Psycho Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released "Fore!", their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
Upbeat, fun music August 17, 2008 Robert Crow (Woodbridge, VA) You can't listen to this every day. But every couple of months, it's a nice lift. All their big hits are on this CD. I attended one of their concerts in the D.C. area and every time that I play this, it brings back some good memories.
I OWN EVERY HLN ALBUM and I still bought this August 5, 2008 Larry Sloan (Kent, WA) Saying I'm a big HLN fan is an understatement. I have all their albums. What was missing were the single edits of many of my favorites. This album has many of those. I got the version with the music videos too. These guys had some truly great videos and those are included with that version. Many "greatest" CDs are barely OK. This is a GREATEST of greats, from the song selection to the packaging.
