Four-year career hiatuses followed by sprawling double-albums could spell trouble for a band of the Chili Peppers' stature: consider they'd originally recorded enough for three discs. The restless, trouble-plagued outfit that helped break alternative rock into the mainstream with a potent fusion of punk 'n' funk in the '80s finds itself two decades on almost completely devoid of the former's energetic abandon, while the latter's effusive rhythms are considerably subdued over the course of this two-hour, 28-track collection. It's not so much that the Peppers have lost their muscular, often uber-macho edge as they have willfully tamed it in service of mature reinvention here. The mellower, often introspective, if no less potent pop ethos that characterized the crossover hit "Under the Bridge" blossoms fully here on tracks like disc one's "Snow," "Wet Sand," and the jazz-cool of "Hey." The title track, "Desecration Smile," and "She Looks To Me" finds them venturing further into laid back pop ballad territory, while the tricky rhythms of "Dani California," "Charlie," and "So Much I" eventually kick into familiar top gear on the pop-savvy "Tell Me Baby" and hip-hop seasoned "Storm in a Teacup." It's not that there's a paucity of musical adventure here ("If" and "Animal Bar" finds them wafting into Floydish neo-psychedelia while "Make You Feel Better" seems to channel no less than Joe Jackson) but that it's delivered with a subtlety--and dare we say it?--tasteful musical restraint that's a stark contrast to the band's early, overly overt nature. There's perhaps too much mid-tempo simmering and reflection going on; like most double-albums it could be focused into a much more compelling single disc. But that seems largely beside the Peppers' hooks-over-histrionics point here: an unlikely record to kick back to, and one that both challenges assumptions and eases the band into middle age with an oft languorous, if undeniably savory groove. This deluxe edition contains a 90-minute bonus DVD featuring Tony Kaye's video (and a half-hour "making of" featurette) for "Dani California," a kaleidoscopic romp through rock history that finds the appropriately costumed and bewigged Peppers conjuring everything from early Elvis and British Invasion to P-Funk, Glam Metal, and Grunge. All four band members also participate in a casual, track-by-track discussion of the album that runs nearly an hour. --Jerry McCulley

Stadium Acadium is one of my favorite albums, from one of my favorite bands. This album is an amazing two disc album. The album comes with CD Jupiter, CD Mars, and a bounus dvd. The tracks includes classics like "snow" and "Dani California" and catchy funky songs like "tell me baby" "hump de bump" and my favorite "hard to concentrate".The band really came together to make this album a smash hit. Wether its the slick guitar solos, the drum fills, the funky bass lines, and the amazing vocals Stadium Arcadium is a must have album.

If you love the Chili Peppers, this Special Edition album is a must have. There are video interviews, knick-knacks, and one of the greatest recordings from the band all wrapped in one neat little package.

Wow, that's all I'm going to say to this amazing boxed set. It was very different than what I thought it was going to be but I don't care. I originally bought the album and wondered what was in the boxed set. It wasn't until 2 years after the release of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's greatest album that they've ever made (next to Blood Sugar Sex Magik), that I would buy the box set. I think the best part of this set is the box itself. It's the 3-D logo of Stadium Arcadium. It's just awesome. Others have put in their reviews what's in it so I won't. But if this was the Chili Pepper's last album (it isn't, though, trust me), they went out with a freaking good album and boxed set to go with it. Everyday I find myself loving a new track (28 of them total). The last track that I fell in love with is "Hey", a nice jazzy track. You won't be disappointed in both the album and the boxed set.

The Chili Peppers are definitely on top of their game on this CD. Blood Sugar Sex Magic is the only other CD that even comes close to this one. I highly recommend it! I also loved the rare ART Box and all the cool stuff inside. A bit pricey but definitely worth it. Delivery was very fast.

I have been a Peppers fan almost all of my life, and, so, I have pretty high expectations from them, ya' know? Anyway, almost every song on this album was stupendous. Yeah, stupendous, and I don't even use that word, much less anyone else. I think, that all the songs that they tried to get back to their roots, although incomplete breakthrough, were great nonetheless. Such titles as 'Torture Me' and 'Strip My Mind', were quite unique, considering RHCP's normal upbeat style, and were done quite well, reminenscing the times of 'Otherside' and similiar songs. All the singles? Fantastic. A couple of songs of noteworthy are 'Hey', 'Charlie', '21st Century', 'Turn It Again', and 'Death Of A Martian', the last one have an amazing spoken poem by Anthony, making a great finale for the whole album. The special edition's bonus disc is quite good, but, I really reccomend it more for the bigger fans of RHCP, that still like 'em, as well as the other little stuff that it came with. I have to admit, I love the little top it came with, I thought it was cool, and also the little optical illusion cards it came with, for the top. Anyway, if you like pop music, if you like fast bass lines, if you like a little hippty hop with some singity bop, you should get this album.
