Album Description One of the world's greatest rock 'n' roll bands ever to strut the 50 States, these sharp-dressed Texas titans-Billy F. Gibbons, Frank Beard, and Dusty Hill-are a righteously hell rain' power trio boasting a 30-plus year hit-making legacy, both in the studio and at concert arenas. With their revved up blues 'n' boogie, they always make the most of their Texas birthright with with a distinctive sound that shakes up rock, blues, soul, garage-funk, Americana, and more. Nowhere is their force of nature musicianship better displayed than on these two album classics, revved up wtih red-hot bonus rarities. "You know what I'm talkin' about...an how how how how."

Still their best December 17, 2008 The Plunkster (Fairfield, OH United States) All these years and all these ZZ Top albums later, and "Tres Hombres" is still their best. The absolute definitive ZZ Top album. If you only own one ZZ Top album, make it this one.
Hard Partyin' Rock and Roll August 29, 2008 G. E. Williams (California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Back in the very early days of what was the called Rock & Roll, guys like Elvis and Bill Haley and the Comets, "Rock" was kind of a big band boogie kind of affair. For me at least it wasn't really Rock until a little trio from Texas came along called Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Rock was pared down to its bones, a bass, a guitar and drums, with edgy lyrics that people didn't know exactly what to do with. In that fine tradition came this little band from Texas, and a new generation of Tex Rock was born. After its release, Tres Hombres was the one album that always got played at any party I went to in High School, and all the guys thought of themselves as Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers. At one dance at my school, the band was playing "La Grange" and I didn't like the way the vocalist was singing, so I took the mike, and sang it myself. All my friends went crazy, and the band didn't seem to mind, because the next time they played where I was, the smiled and pointed, and said "Hey, there's that dude!" Now over the years, I have gladly outgrown the lifestyle, but still, I love to crank this great CD up from time to time, and remember the days when I was want to do stupid things, just because I could, the fun and the friends, and the music. Life's been good to me. So here's the deal, if you don't know this album, it (for me) is still the best thing that ZZ Top has done, and it is a great example of Party Rock from the Mid 70's
A must-have for ZZ fans. August 15, 2008 Don Jollota (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent sound quality. I'm now hearing the more subtle things that we couldn't hear back in the 8-track days. I saw these guys many, many times in the early 70's just before they hit it big and this CD really brings those shows back to life. If you're a ZZ fan you will love this version.
The Top's top album.....Beware the mp3 download link August 3, 2008 J. Grant (North Carolina) This is my personal favorite ZZ Top album, thankfully remastered in it's original form (minus all of the synthetic crap added on the Six Pack remixes and not fixed until 2006). Everybody even vaguely familiar with ZZ Top probably already knows the merits of these songs on this disc. My main reason for writing this review was to warn about downloading the mp3 album (which I almost did because this item was out of stock). When you click on the Buy mp3 link, it directs to to the 1990 release, which is the one you DON'T want. Apparently Amazon doesn't have the 2006 Original Recording Remaster available for download.
Awesome! July 31, 2008 P. Myers (Alberta) Awesome album all round, so glad they are back the world will always need ZZ TOP, HAVE MERCY!
