Love DVD Audio! Keep them coming.November 12, 2008 William Fletcher(Little River, CA USA) Great album and a treat to hear it in High Res surround. The mixes (or the mastering) aren't as good as the originals but far more dynamic for the Res and surround. I hope this formats survives the low res movement!

While I'm not the biggest fan of Elton John, I do have a healthy respect for his work. Particularly his early work. This will make a fine (almost mandatory) addition to your (now defunct) DVD-A collection. It is simply stellar in it's dynamic range, use of surround, and clarity. Some mixes can be fatiguing due to over-use of the side and rear surrounds, but this one is "just right". Hi-res audio is a must for any audiophile, and this disc does not disappoint. 5-stars, without any hesitation.
worth having it whatever is the formatSeptember 5, 2008 Antonio Lima(RIO DE JANEIRO , BRAZIL) I am very suspicious to say something about this classic , i come from a time where music used to stick out by being sung or made by selective acts and commercial business was even more into a finer good taste..so when this album came out it was a real shocker , all cuts are undoubtly refined, sophysticated and i can even think elton john himself would never disagree with the spreadout opinion that this record is one of the best things ever made in the show business. He would not ever get to repeat that. We can tell, we have remained alive through all this time... Sound here couldn't be more vivid . Buy yours too.
Tinny SoundAugust 11, 2008 S. Sivad(Nevada) The sound on this cd was very bad. Using my imagination I could hear the way the songs sounded originally, but this cd was a big disappointment. Would not recommend it to anyone.
A must ownJuly 13, 2008 keyboard guy(Nashville, TN USA) Every audiophile and/or Elton John fan should have this. To have what many consider Elton's masterpiece rendered in higher definition audio as well as a 5.1 mix is a real treat. The mix is overall very well balanced and sounds wonderful! I would have liked a bit more use of the 5.1 capability on "Funeral For A Friend", but that of course is up to personal taste. The extras on this disc are terrific, which include some B side material as well as a great acoustic guitar oriented version of "Candle In The Wind". There is also some great video interviews with producer and arrangers, including some great insight at a mixing console with the original master tape cued up. If you don't have this in your collection, you are truly missing out. Acquire it immediately.
