Completes the pair of Garbage's best CD single set October 7, 2002 Mike (Utah) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
In my opinion, Queer is the best CD single set Garbage has released thus far. Both contain great B-sides, great remixes and not to mention "Queer," which is undeniably one the best songs off their debut. And while I consider Pt. 1 to be superior to Pt. 2, it's still an great piece of work. While "Butterfly Collector" is a cover of a song originally by The Jam, Garbage sure has made it their own. It's dark and heavy, one of their shining achievements as far as B-sides go. If you're a "B-side Collector," this one would make an excellent addition to your collection. The first remix that shows up is the F.T.F.O.I. mix. It's boring and drawn-out to say the least. Without a doubt, the least interesting of the Queer remixes, which are some of the better of the Garbage remixes out there. Not much else to say about this one... The Danny Saber Mix more than makes up for the dissapointment of the previous remix. Although it can get a bit repetative, it's still a great remix. While one of the remixes pales in comparison to the others, there's more than enough on this single to make up for it. Be sure to pick up Pt. 1 to make the set complete! You won't be dissapointed!
Butterfly Collector August 4, 2002 Mr. O. Buxton (Highgate, UK) You might like to know that "Butterfly Collector" is a cover of the 1980s track by that spectacular bunch of post-punk Mods, the Jam. I haven't managed to listen to Garbage's version, but they're the right sort of band to do it. If you like this, and you're a keen to dig a little into British Rock history (it used to be pretty tough, you know), you should check out the original Jam version, as it's a great song from a great band. The Jam is long gone but its lead singer - and author of The Butterfly Collector - Paul Weller is still around and periodically releases albums. The most recent, Heliocentric, is not at all bad in a sensible late thirties kind of way. A good one for fathers' day, maybe.
UNIQUE! UNIQUE! UNIQUE! June 22, 1998 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's a very unique album. If you liked their second album you will love this. The song called "Butterfly collector" you can't find anywhere else. It's a slow song with a fast chorus. It's really creative. All garbage fans will love this.
