| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com No other Otis compilation quite satisfies the way the old double-LP best-of does, but never mind: any way you hear Redding's many great moments is a good one. The Very Best splits ballads and up-tempo stuff half-and-half, letting you hear the great one's humanity in every mood--the pile-driving rock of "Respect," the preaching fervor of "Try a Little Tenderness," the nascent reflection of "Dock of the Bay." A record collection with no Otis is a poor thing: here's yours. --Rickey Wright

The Very Best of Otis Redding May 15, 2008 Smiling (B.I., IL) Great memories! A classical CD to go with my vinyl! Great delivery service also.
Otis Redding May 12, 2008 Cheryl J. Jones (Phoenix, Arizona) I can't stop playing it. The memory of my teens years come back to me. That was a happy time and Otis was certainly a part of it. My friends and I danced and cried this this wonderful music.
He was great---what a loss! February 9, 2008 Geraldine C. Cooper (Owings Mills, MD USA) A very good CD, showing his great talent. Always wanted something by him & finally got it!
Best singer of all time January 10, 2008 S. Ferguson There can be no doubt who the greatest singer of all time is: Otis Redding. While this compilation omits a lot of Otis' amazing songs (too many to put on a single CD) it serves as a fine introduction to the world's finest singer. Here is a man who sings with more soul than James Brown over music that is more earthy and organic than anything considered "urban" or "country" today. He's side-by-side with Sam Cooke as one of the two most phenomenal voices ever to grace vinyl. Otis is one of a kind. Listening to his 'sweet soul music' will elevate your life.
If you need a soul infusion, this the ultimate plasma December 29, 2007 Marcus Aurelius (PA USA) The first question has to be "How have you gone so long without these tracks?" There are so many great numbers here that you will never regret having this for the c.d. player or edited down on your ipod. I keep the hits for a good workout on the 'pod for the gym. One of my big regrets in life is not going to see Otis when he was passing through as the opening act for the Hollies a short while before he died. I was smart enough to pick up this cd, so I could have Otis to listen to when I needed him. Just go ahead and buy this. You get all the hits, plus a few extras to just make you realize what a musical treasure Otis Redding will always be.
