great sampler of Williams career; cheap priceAugust 20, 2005 tjguitar Intersounds records has put together a great one disc compilation of music from the career of John Williams. Most of the tracks are taken from Intersounds' "Magic of the Movies" CD series from a few years ago performed by Mexico City's Orchestra of the America under the baton of Bill Broughton (brother of popular composer Bruce). The playing is first rate and the liner notes are informative as well. In addition, a couple of the tracks are performed by the San Diego Symphony Pops Orchestra under the baton of Lalo Schifrin (composer of the famous Mission Impossible theme). Pick this one up if you are a casual film music fan who hasn't heard much of John Williams, or if you are someone who wants to hear another orchestra's take on the music of the maestro.
